Hi fibromites I have been diagnosed with stage 2 COPD. Was wondering if any body in this group also has COPD too and how are they managing living with it. I'm also my husbands carer since he had a stroke and I work 25 hours

Hi topsy,
I don't have it myself, but a family friend does. From what I'm aware of they have been dealing with it quite well, and it hasn't really caused any major problems x
Again I haven't got it but two friends have. Smoking is a no no, exercise helps and so does bring always hydrated as it helps thin the mucus so it is easier to get rid of. Try and avoid anyone with infections the one with a more advanced stage has an"emergency pack" prescribed with antibiotics and steroids to take if required and she has found that inhalers have helped. The nurse told her to have a lie down in the afternoon for an hour so that her body rests so that her oxygen levels can increase instead of becoming too depleted. Hers has only got worse over a number of years so hopefully by being sensible you will be able to manage well for a long time.x
Hi Topsy
I have copd, was diagnosed over 5 years ago, before the fibro. I have 2 different inhailers that i take every day ans ventolin as and when needed. It took a while to find the right meds for me. I dont get too many chest infections now. Make sure you have the pneumonia jab which is a one off as well as the flu jab every year. Your gp should also offer you a yearly spiromitry test to check how you are and if your meds need changing x
me also, take inhalers, and flu jabs, mostly affects when exerting myself, so as with fibro, you learn your limits quick enough, oh and give up smoking ( i really should practice what i preach ) 😀
