Does everyone have a rheumatologist? I was diagnosed by a specialist neurologist in me and ms. I was diagnosed with me. He said he was so confident what I had, I didn't have to see a rheumatologist. Is there any need for me to see one or can my Dr deal. With it all?

You don't need a rheumatologist as long as a specialist as diagnosed you. I'm not sure about any one else but ESA and PIP seem to believe you more if it's not the GP who diagnosed you . It's always one of the questions and the mood seems to change when you say specialist in whatever field. Or that may be me being paranoid lol wait till you get more answers lol xxxxx

One would hope your gp has been advised by the hospital consultants of there findings, diagnosis and what to treat you with if they discharge you, I was diagnosed by a rheumo doc and a neuro doc (during a nasty time I had a sub arachnoid and was taken to a neuro centre for investigations - very scary experience) the neuro doc was able to say why it happened and it was to do with current conditions, bad posture, poor sleep, he even diagnosed Arthralgia in my hands- really good investigations that answered a lot of questions. If you have follow ups with your Neuro doc make yourself a list of what you are experienceing, in SOME cases it can be medication!

Hi do you have M.E and MS or just M.E. Bit confused. I was diagnosed by a neurologist too. After that it was back to the GP. He referred me to the ME clinic at the hospital who confirmed the diagnosis and then saw a nurse specialist for 6 months who basically taught me how to deal with it. Hope this helps you.

Sorry. I see I didn't make myself clear. I got ME. I see the OT now and again. Am treated to symptoms by Doc but that's it. The ME has progressed that much I'm in an electric wheelchair. They don't even take notice of that little inconvenience. I feel so abandoned and overlooked. The OT makes sure I got what I need but then that's the end of it. From the waist down I have so much muscle wastage my skin just hang off my bones .

My GP sent me for loads of tests then said it must be fibro as they’d ruled out everything else so I’ve not seen any specialists. I asked my doctor to write down the conditions I was being treated for and took it with me to my assessment and was awarded PIP.
