Daughters Health a worry

Hello to everyone. I signed up to try to understand my daughters recent diagnosis. It took forever for her to see the right consultant and get a proper diagnosis. When she was little she initially could not walk properly or for long periods, so I believe she may have been suffering with this then but at that time it really was not known. I have been reading that people are putting on weight - which she has done considerably - can anyone give me any info on what may help/avoid. Do you think any pain relieving machine i.e Tens may help? Any help would gratefully be received.

Welcome to the site. I'm so very sorry that your daughter is suffering with this.

I do not take prescription medications and i haven't tried the tens machine, but i can tell you what has helped me, but know that what helps one of us won't always help another. We are all different and lots of us have multiple conditions.

I think stretching and range of motion exercises are really beneficial.

I found great benefit with juicing fresh fruits and veggies, after the first week i had energy boost and my aches decreased greatly but it didn't make everything go away completely.

Massage is great for me, it increases blood flow to the muscles and help them heal. I get monthly massages, well while i can afford them. Warning! It can and most likely will be extremely painful, but for me the benefits FAR out way the pain.

I go to the chiropractor as well monthly.

Light exercises to strengthen muscles to help prevent injury has helped me a lot, there are a lot of tiny muscles that are forget about that are needed for balance and proper body movements. Sorry if I'm not making sense.

Now i don't know if supplements are something you would want your daughter to take. I really like, Spirulina, Wheat grass tablets, olive leaf extract, (all from trusted sources) i haven't taken all 3 at once but i have taken the wheat grass and olive leaf together. They increase nutrition and have helped me with achiness and energy.

Omega 3 is great for foggy mind

Magnesium chloride oil diluted with distilled water is great to rub on a sore muscle, it calms it just enough to take the edge off the pain. I dilute mine till it isn't so irritating, as it can be itchy.

Uuummmmm. I feel like there is more info i could give you.

There are a lot of articles with different reason as to why we are, but my favorite is that we have an overactive nervous system. So what gives a normal person has a small ache, our body screams out at us.

So i have tried to approach myself in a way that i treat myself like an athlete without the sport. I try to eat really healthy, juice a few times a week, stretch morning and night and after exercise, strengthen muscles without overworking them.

And i think pacing ourselves is very important. I will do chores for a little bit them rest for a few minutes then get back to work, if i rest too long it will make me hurt more.

Sorry for dumping all the info on you.

I really hope you can find something to help your daughter, she is very lucky to have such a loving mother.

Take care××

Thank you so much for all the information - finding natural remedies is something I totally agree with as you are not bombarding yourself with chemicals all the time. xx

Hi sky-blue and welcome,

Sorry to hear of your daughter's diagnosis, there is a lot of useful information about fibromyalgia on fmauk.org Did her consultant give her any information or prescribed any medication, as some of the tablets can cause weight gain?

She needs to pace herself carefully and not overdo things. I find gentle short periods of exercise such as walking, swimming and yoga are helpful. Has the doctor suggested a referral to a pain clinic or a pain management course?

It is great that she has a supportive mother who wants to help. It is so difficult to explain what it is like to live with this condition. You may suggest that she and you look for a local support group that you can both attend. Best wishes to you and your daughter xx
