Morning to you all. Thought I'd give you guys an update as to what's going on. I still haven't heard from the strengthening group yet.

As for my symptoms, some are bizarre, the main ones are fatigue, Muscle pain, weakness in my hands, I get joint pain (particularly bad in my hands and wrists), IBS (have always had this), foggy head, sensitivity to light/sound and unrefreshing sleep. I also notice that I've slowed down alot.

As for the bizarre ones, I (so I am told) becoming very "stupid". I might say or do something usual.

I am planning on going back to the doctor to get a referral to the rheumatologist.

Thank you Trikki. You've made me feel much better!!! I do not have a clue either what a strengthening group is. One of my friends on Facebook has attended one, but she couldn't remember what they did. Reading in the fibromyalgia book, apparently it's normal now. Am apprehensive about it, just want to know more about it.

Stupid is definately something we fibromites are definitely ezperts at. I type something lately and then wonder where the gobble gook came from. We had a funny discussion the other week about all the stupid things we had done and said very bizarre. Mind you there are two daft ones in our house. Couldn't understand why OH when he was making a cup of tea and took the milk out of the fridge then toddled along to the bedroom with it, we are still puzzling on that one.

Yes if you are getting much worse it might be best to see a rheumatologist just to make sure that there is nothing else going on good luck.x

Hi Littlestar82

I am only guessing here, but I wonder if the term 'strengthening group' refers to an exercise group of some sort? I have pasted you below some information from the NHS Choices cache on this:

Resistance and strengthening exercises

Resistance and strengthening exercises are those that focus on strength training, such as lifting weights. These exercises need to be planned as part of a personalised exercise programme; if they aren't, muscle stiffness and soreness could be made worse.

A review of a number of studies concluded that strengthening exercises may improve:

muscle strength

physical disability

depression

quality of life

People with fibromyalgia who completed the strengthening exercises in these studies said they felt less tired, could function better and experienced a boost in mood.

Improving the strength of your major muscle groups can make it easier to do aerobic exercises.

I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
