Hi fibro10

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today?

I have pasted for you below a link and an excerpt to the *CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) guide for preparing for your PIP assessment:

*Talking about how your condition affects you

You should be prepared to talk about how your condition affects you even if you’ve already detailed it on your PIP claim form. It can be hard to do this but it will really help if you can talk about:

the kind of things you have difficulty with, or can’t do at all - for example, walking up steps without help or remembering to go to appointments

how your condition affects you from day to day

what a bad day is like for you - for example, ‘On a bad day, I can’t walk at all because my injured leg hurts so much’ or ‘On a bad day, I’m so depressed I can’t concentrate on anything’

Please just try and be your usual self for your assessment and I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I also want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your doctors appointment and with your MRI. Please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x :)

hate to put a damper on it, pip assessments are a farse. went for mine, they do not marry the assessors reports with the decision maker. i lost my mobility , i got a mp involved and a benifits solicitor took my case on. won my mobility back for 10 years. ask them for a copy of your assessment papers, and take it to cab or mp they know all about the making  points, they gave me 2 points for every thing,  by the time the mp took it to parliment, they changed my points to 4. so i got 18 points for daily living and 12 for mobility. make sure you go with some body. and take a copy of all your medical evidence make sure you make them note the latest ones as they tend to forget???????? tell them every thing about you even if its embarrassing.  and if your in pain let them know your in pain and tell them how much pain you suffered whilst travelling, they will get you a taxi back and the taxies work with them and watch every move you make, if you do not get the out come you want take it to a tribunal they are for you not against you, they were great to me the other time i lost my mobility. you have nothing to hide when your telling the truth and they cannot catch you out on a truth, Good luck, did you know you can call them and tell them you cannot travel that far because of your illness they have to get you a nearer venue  or get your doctor to call them or a mp to call them.

I know there are a lot of horror stories out there about PIP assessments, but when I had to go with my husband for his, the first thing we realised was that we had been watched right from our car in the car park as to how far he could walk without pain. Apart from that the chap asked why we were there! When we said that we had travelled some distance so we did not have our money stopped, he said he thought my husband was not well enough to be at an interview! You can imagine our surprise at having a feeling person in front of us. All the way through he was great and my husband got what we thought he was due. So please don't be too worried. I think on the whole they do understand.

Hi jannah

I have pasted you a link to the CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) cache on preparing for an ESA Medical Assessment, so this may give you some ideas of what to expect:

i have fibromyalgia, poly arthritis, angina, liver fibrosis, small arteries disease, kidney desease, tmj. i have been told i need two new knee caps, my arthritis is in my spine, wrists, knees shins an which ankles and feet, which is severe, and i have frozen shoulder, i lost my disability and mobility. i had all the medical evidence drs support notes, they dismissed the drs report, and lied about me, the decision makers notes did not marry up with the trainee assessor. i went to a mp and benefits solicitor who took my case on and won it back for 10 years do not give up if refused, never ever give up fight for your rights/ alwas request a copy of the assessors report and take it to cab, or mp if you are not satisfied

Hi Fibro10

I had my Pip assessment a few weeks again, I to had a letter to say it was going to be miles away from my home.  I called them and they gave me another which was 10 mins away.  Might be worth calling them up and asking if there is one nearer to you 😊

Ask for a home assessment ! Give them reasons why? My sister can't sit or stand for long and sitting in a car for a half hour journey  to be assessed for PIP was a no go!

get a dr note to say you cannot travel, or get an mp involved

Hello fibro10,,,,,Your assessment is a very long way from your home,,,,why not ask for a home assessment visit,,,,, you have no way of getting there,,and 'nobody' is available to take you on the date,,,,,please don't be so worried that you are making yourself sick,,,,and as you have long appointments then tell them,,,and get the home visit,,,,the pip has got so many people totally stressed out and it is not doing anybody any good,,,,,take it slowly,,,and rest more,,,ttfn from Karen.

Hi I hope everything turns out ok with your MRI.

Regarding your assessment I would ring them and say there's no way you can travel so far without someone bringing you nd the journey would take so long any way.

Ask for a home assessment they will sk you to get a doctors letter to say you are entitled to one.

They have to give you one with a letter from your GP.

Take care try not to worry to much.
