Yes, you can try claiming, but you will need a lot of patience and evidence of your condition.
Not everyone just gets this benefit because they have the illnesses you have.
Daily Living Allowance (DLA) has now been changed to Personal Independence Payments (PIP). This is being rolled out across the country and soon everyone that is claiming this benefit will be on PIP.
The CAB is the Citizens Advice Bureau. They help with all manner of things, including help with claiming benefits.
