If you can shop online there are lots of aids for this, I use the complete care shop, Lloyds Pharmacy also online or you can get certain things through social services, I don't think we are alone with this problem. Lou xx
I am absolutely sure there are alot of people on this site who have the same problem so thank you for having the courage to ask the question.
It could be something that Social Services might be able to provide. I don't know how much help you need but the firm that Lou was good enough to mention happen to have a couple of aids on special offer at the moment. Remember that by signing a declaration that you are disabled you should be able to purchase this type of aid VAT free.x
Hi ohare
Welcome to the forum, and I sincerely hope that you find the site useful, informative and loads so fun! I am so sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue but I am sure that you are not alone with this.
I was wondering if you had considered a bidet? As this could eradicate the problem straight away. If you cannot afford something of this nature yourself there may be grants available? It may help to contact your local Social Services who would able to advise.
There are also other products available that you could possibly qualify for if you are happy to have an ''Occupational Health Assessment'' by Social Services such as raised toilet seats etc.
I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck with finding the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
hello,
I sometimes have this problem as well, but can work round it. thanks for asking the question. As for assistance, if you have any hope at all that you might be eligible for funding i.e.if the problem is substantial AND your income is low AND/OR you may need a big package - i.e. a bidet or a walk-in shower even, then I would advise to seek an assessment with social services as a matter of urgency - because anything you purchase before an assessment by them will not be paid for, in my experience. What you most likely need is an OT assessment. Depending on locality, you can ask for it yourself or your GP can/should refer you. In which case you may still have to make follow-up phone calls, in my experience. The complete care catalague mentioned sound like a good idea so you have some idea what might help you if/when you ask for an assessment. The good news is that OT assessments and equipment are the things least difficult to get from Social Services.
Best wishes,
Barb
I have a great product that does just what you need. it's called "long reach comfort wipe" by North American Healthcare. item #JB5231. I found it on line. i have one in both bathrooms at home! good luck!
