Hi - has anyone ever had acupuncture to help with their fibromyalgia? I had the treatment yesterday and feel absolutely awful today!

Hi hetty64, I had acupuncture at physio and my experience was a positive one. It was relaxing during and the pain relief after was good. I am sorry that you too did not get the same result, Hugs, Julie xx

Hi hefty, I had accupuncture sone years ago, I had it on my neck and back, I had it on and off for a couple of years , the last lot wasnt doing anything except make my muscles cramp up so they stopped, they do a course of six weeks don't they, well they use to anyway, if they still do that then the second session may make a difference to you...gentle hugs...Dee x

Hi hetty64

I sincerely hope that you are feeling much better today? I have had acupuncture but alas it had an adverse effect on me and made my Fibro worse over a period of time. I know many of the members have had positive results from trying it so it is always worth trying for a few weeks.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Hetty64

Yes, I've had it twice - at great cost in Finchley.

Beautifully done and extremely restful during the sessions but was in absolute agony for at least 24 hours after both sessions. However, once that was past, I felt almost like a spring chicken for up to five days afterwards.

Having said that, I no longer have accupuncture as I actually have a small phobia of needles (but you'll try most things when you're in this much pain - practically had to take sedatives prior to both sessions), I have accupressure instead finished off with hot stones on pressure points. It's been fantastic.

We're all different so listen to your body and go with what works for you. I'm finding the sessions rather expensive so can't have it too often. I have not discovered a wonderful Hamman close to where I live so plan on taking a nice Turkish Bath soon which will be cheaper and may give me the steam heat therapy my body seems to respond to.

Wishing you all the best.

Hi, I've had acupuncture a few times and was warned that the following day would be worse. The same as Reykua I felt great for a while after that though. Short courses worked best for me, the long course I had was not effective after a while. Hope things ease for you. Take care, love kath. X x

Thanks for all you replies - think I overdid it yesterday, but no longer have the flu like symptoms I had last night - just very stiff!

I have another two sessions booked and will continue as hope it will improve things!
