Hi Klfhl, I'm so pleased you've got your referral,to the pain clinic and also some trigger point injections. I am somewhat surprised that she has moved you from a medication that might help both with sleep and mood and put you on to Prozac (fluoxetine) which is just an antidepressant, and yes, you very may well get headaches from it, I did for the 2 days that I took it and was immediately changed to another med. Can I ask if she gave you an explanation as to why she thought it better and also did you make her well aware that you suffer from migraines.

This is written on from my own personal experience, and medics do generally know best, but it might just be an idea to run it past her again, especially if you do take the Prozac and get either a cracking headache or it triggers a migraine.

Sending lots of healing vibes your way :-)

Hi Foggy I'm not really sure why she changed it over...we where talking about non sedative approach and this was her preferred choice. She knows I get migraines as they flag up on my notes and get repeat scripts for meds. I have to say I don't like the side affects on form so call to her Friday morn is on cards.

Gentle hugs back xx

Hi klfhl

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am delighted that you are having a pain management clinic referral and trigger point injections, I sincerely hope that they help control your pain and give you a much happier feel to your life.

I have pasted the NHS Choices webpage link for Fluoxetine for you. The page has a great deal of information about the drug and what it is used for etc: So I really hope that you find it useful.

Although I do genuinely hope that your Fluoxetine does not induce more migraines for you. If so, I would strongly suggest that you discuss this matter with your GP again. Please keep us all up to date with how you get on?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thank you Ken for link...so far only two days on meds and headaches are back not to extreme but not happy, as I said above to foggy call to doc is morning Friday to discuss as she said not to take if headaches occur.

I am delighted to get referral to pain clinic, doc was very supporting to this option although she did say will probably be 3 months before seen. This could prove tricky as warm weather time :( . Think pain diary may be way forward here.

Hi Klfhl! Glad that you are getting recommended for further pain treatment. Luckily I don't need trigger point injections (yet anyway!) but I just wanted to say that I too had to change from Amitriptyline as it made me feel so ill (nausea, headaches, zombie-like etc) and was put onto Fluoxetine. This was back in September and I have found them to be a great help. I had no side effects to speak of and they just generally help me to feel better on a day to day basis. Don't get me wrong I still get pain of varying degrees on a daily basis and recently had a very bad flare up BUT I feel like they have helped me a lot. Good luck and fingers crossed for you x

I have tendinitis in right elbow and carpal tunnel in right wrist so trigger point injections hopefully will eliminate this pain. Sore muscles and arms all time and pain killers are just useless xxx

Gentle hugs xxxx

You poor thing! I think a lot of pain killers don't have much impact on the muscle aches - maybe strong ones from docs do but I'm trying to steer clear of them unless I really need them. This is such a frustrating disease with no one size fits all solution to the puzzle! Let me know how you go with the injections x

It frustrates me as I also steer clear strong painkillers...I like to be awake this Fibro is bad enough without becoming a zombie...I feel injections are a great way forward so hope when I start them I can come back with good comments xxx take care xx

Completely agree! I meant to say, I've suffered from migraines since I was a kid and the fluoxetine hasn't triggered anymore or made them worse. Think it's trial and error and different for everyone but it sounds like your dr listens which is good! xx
