Recently diagnosed in addition to spinal condition

Hi,
I haven't got that but do have other issues with my back. Just wanted to say Hi and Welcome.

Many thanks.
Hi Sniffer8
Firstly, welcome to the forum and I sincerely hope that you find it as useful as I do.
I have not got syringomyelia, please correct me if I am wrong but it's a hole in the spine or growths / cysts in the spine. I can imagine that it is very painful and extremely unpleasant and I sincerely hope that your doctors have more than enough pain medication on repeat prescriptions for you? I was wondering how you are coping with this?Sorry I am quite nosy about these things. What effect does it have with your Fibromyalgia?
Anyway, I hope to bump into you around the site, they are a real friendly bunch in the fibro-family.
Take care

Hi TheAuthor, many thanks for that. Basically you're right re syringomyelia . I have a cavity (syrinx) for 75% of my thoracic spine, following a motor bike accident over 3 decades ago. I noticed odd things about 10 years ago and was diagnosed in 2007. Main problem is mobility as I have muscle weakness to both legs (paraparesis) also spasm and spasticity. Elimination is progressively compromised. Re pain, this is generalised on a bad day but most typically to neck, shoulders and down my spine. It is more discomfort and I've got used to it and don't take painkillers. Fatigue however is a massive problem and lack of energy. It was through my pursuing answers re tiredness that eventually led to Rheumatology referral last year and FM diagnosis. When I look at all the FM symptoms I can relate to many of them. Again thanks for you're interest.
Hi Sniffer,
Welcome to the site, it is a wonderful place full of lovely people who all have Fibro plus other things. If you are still looking for answers do go to fibroaction.org or click on the butterfly this is our parent site and can be useful.
I am afraid I had not heard of your condition so I have been looking it up. I gather the cavity is down the spinal column? You seem to be in control of that aspect of your life but battling the fatigue we have.
It is difficult to find an answer I tend to rest when it takes over and that is quite often.
Hope you meet some of the lovely chaps on line.and looking forward to reading your posts.
