Are there disability benefits available for fibro and arthritis?
Quality of life has plummeted in last few months due to complete exhaustion.. when I return from work I fall asleep. still with jacket on somedays, think cutting hours could help but financially I need to work full time.

Thank You for your comment Linit, may I please add that DLA is only continuing for people who are currently in the appeal process for an earlier claim otherwise for all new claimants it is now personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Anyone who would like to email us for more information on applying for benefits, please do using info@fibroaction.org
morning m hh46 , I was the same as you last year , I was exhausted , and falling asleep with coat on as soon as I walked in ! I just couldn't do it any more and I was working as a nursery nurse , so I needed a lot of energy which I didn't have ,I was put on sick pay , then eventually I was put on esa .
Just seen your post, have you looked into Tax Credits if your illness is classed as a Disability you would get credits on that it all depends on what you earn and how many hours you work.
Know what you mean. I've had to work hard to find ways of continuing to work full time. As a single person I need to support myself and my kids at Uni. Luckily I work near to home so little travelling time and plan ahead to have at least two evenings where I get my PJs on by 5 30 and try to be in bed by 8pm. It helps me survive the rest of the week. Hope you find something that works for you - reduction in hours may help ? x
Hi hh46, it is possible to get benefits for Fibro and arthritis, it depends on how much your life is being affected by your condition as they don't give benefits easily and it can be a fight to get help. I haven't been able to drive for a few years now and can only walk a few steps with my walking stick. I have other conditions too and lost my job so I have managed to get some benefit to help me and my family. It's worth a try looking at dla but it's bit easy. Take care April x
Sorry, I don't know about benefits. I know how difficult it is to carry on working along with everything else.
Until April I worked part time and I struggled with that. I applied for ill-health retirement and after approx a year I was fortunate to get it. Would you be able to do the same?
Have you spoken with your employers, they should get an OH person to assess all the circumstances to enable you to stay at work.
i was very like you work full time come home fall a sleep .
have reduce my hour by five hour a week. this has help . all so work been very good and got me some new equipment to aid me, this has helped a little . just listen to your body everything is try and see what happens . yes its scary especial on money side of things if your income low you will get some help , but every body different. good luck hope you feel better soon
Hi, That's just how I feel, I am a store manager and with the busy christmas trade I am wrecked when I get home, hubby is retired so he cooks and does the housework so all I do is go to work, but each day is more painful, we have invites to go out but I'm too tired, I am going to try and go to a party this saturday for hubby's sake but don't how long I will be able to last.
