I have 2 fibroids. One is growing and is the size of a satsuma. They are giving some discomfort today. I don't start treatment for another 2 weeks. I hope they don't affect the embryo in any way.

Abdomenal discomfort today. Fibroids. Hope they don't affect embryo when I have embryo transfer.
Hi P,
I'm guessing that you have already had all this checked out by your medical team? I had a small polyp removed in November, because they were worried it could interfere with implantation or cause miscarriage.
The consultant at Ivf Wales said it on the limit, any bigger it may have to be taken out but as it is now they not to worried about it but still causes discomfort.
Sorry about your discomfort. It's good to know that your medical team is not worried. I'm guessing it depends exactly where the fibroids are too - your team will have thought about this and must have judged they are not in a problematic place.
Good luck. When do you start IVF?
I started Ivf end of Feb, we got one embryo, bcos I was in pain and still bleeding after egg collection they couldn't do embryo transfer so they froze embryo, I got to wait for period now b4 they do another scan and put me on tablets to see if that works. Hopefully my embryo will survive being defrosted and Fingerscrossed it will work. Doctors say fibroids don't hurt but they do. They make my periods early every month. Some months I am in a lot of pain and know I am going to have a period and other months I don't have any signs of a period it just comes when I don't expect it.
I agree that polyps and fibroids are really difficult. I have endo, so with me it's sometimes been difficult to distinguish what is causing the period pain and problems. If you ever do decide to have your fibroids out in future, it's a fairly simple operation under general anaethetic, (through the vagina, rather than involving any keyhole surgery etc). I had it in November.
On the positive side, I think there's research around showing that, if frozen embryos do thaw well, there is a pretty good pregnancy success rate. My own personal theory is that FET might be a bit better than ordinary IVF, because your system has had more time to recover from the trauma of egg collection.
I had one fibroid removed in 2009 that was small but embedded in womb. I had one doorment fibroid which they decided to leave and this pyre fibroid started last year which is size of satsuma. When I had last had scan the sonographer was unsure if she seen another fibroid, if there is the large fibroid is hiding it. I really hope my little embryo survives :-). I hope you are feeling better too
