Help IVF

Me and my wife have been trying for over 2 years naturally to conceive but with no avail. We have been refused IVF via the NHS as I have an 18 year old from a past relationship were I was 16 when they were born. But the NHS have advise IVH is our only option but rejected the support due to low probability of conception. Has anyone got any advice to what we can do to help strengthen the odds as we don't want to spend and then fail.

Unfortunately there are no guarantees with IVF but there are plenty of things you can do to increase the odds of success. Living a healthy lifestyle/being a healthy weight is one of them. My husband and I have up alcohol completely and kept ourselves very fit and healthy. We ate more of a Mediterranean diet with plenty of protein (mostly fish and chicken) and vegetables and salads. He also took a cocktail of supplements, took up running (there's some evidence that this increases sperm count/quality), and basically kept his privates cool by taking cold baths and not wearing restricting underwear. This increased his sperm count from 1 million at its lowest to 10 million.

I also took supplements, such as proxseed and CoQ10 to improve egg quality. You can also get vaginal probiotics to improve your womb culture.

We now have a 5 month old from ICSI-IVF.

Hope this helps and good luck x

I have tried proxceed, I had one sample tested before it and another after the use of it the second sample was worse. I take the CoQ10 daily as well as my wife an no results, .you count is brlow the 34% normal rate for conception.weight loss is key to this but not the only factor. We have tried all supplements for this an had nothing in 2 years an wrong are ready to just give up

My husband's sperm count went up and down a few times before finally increasing. Some of it is just luck as well. It's totally up to you both whether you want to carry on trying or not. Best of luck x

Scrap the NHS and go abroad.

I wouldn’t give them a penny with that attitude. So negative and dismissive before you’ve even started.

Our clinic is in Athens.. best thing we ever done was come here.

Take a look at fertilysis.. they’re a clinic here in Athens (we have used them personally and are amazing) maybe you could get started with them.. doing some basic tests like microbiome for your wife and DNA fragmentation test for yourself. You can even book consultations with Dr V.. he’s extremely knowledgeable and will help you get started xx

My husband took impryl and that improved his sperm analysis much more than the proxeed (you shouldn’t take anti oxidants with the impryl such as vitamin c or coQ10) x Good luck
