4 failed embryo transfers in 12Months.

Hello looking for some advice after the sad news today that our 4th embryo transfer has failed.

I am 36 in a same sex relationship so no know  fertility issues when I started my IVF journey a year ago.

in my first baseline scan they confirmed I had an endometrioma cyst (3cm) on my right ovary. My clinic have raised no concerns or really even mentioned anything about endometriosis to me. They cracked on with egg collection and we successfully gained 6 5 days embryos with good grading.

Transfer 1 April 24 -Fresh 5AA failed.

Transfer 2 June 24- FET 5AA failed.

Transfer 3 September 24- FET 4AB failed.

Transfer 4 March 25- FET 3BB Failed.

I now have a 3BB and a 4CC left in the freezer.

My clinic haven’t really explored my failures and they haven’t tweaked my protocols much, I have always had a thick lining above 8mm and a triple layer. They have always given me Lubion and for my recent transfer I received a blood thinner called Claxane which clearly hasn’t helped. I had RIF bloods after my 2nd fail which all came back normal.

My endometrioma on my right ovary hasn’t changed in size this past year but In my last scan they have noticed I now have another endometrioma in my left ovary, (very small at the moment)

My gut is telling me that this can’t just be my embryos and my endometriosis is clearly affecting implantation and ability to get pregnant.

I feel my clinic aren’t addressing my endo and seems to just be throwing embryos in and hoping for the best.

May I add none of our embryos are tested.

As you can imagine I am feeling pretty hopeless that’s I’ll never become a mum

and I feel massively unsupported by my clinic.

is it worth moving my final 2 embryos?

Any advice on protocols and success after failed transfers and endometriosis would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.🙏🏽

Have you discussed your concerns with your clinic ? Might be an idea to do this especially as you are obviously worried about the effects of the endometriosis may have on implantation . Hope you have people around for support and have taken advantage of the counselling appointment you should be offered while on treatment

You are absolutely right to be questioning the protocol here especially that tests showed no chromosome issues post MC. All these failures indicate likely uterine or immune issues or both. Endo is an inflammatory disease nobody is talking about and has massive impact on implantation and holding pregnancy. Friend of mine now holding baby after 7 years on similar journey but through multiple IVFs and constant failures. Final clinic she went to added in immune protocol intralipids, IVig at pregnancy test, high does progesterone, blood thinners and she also added in ozone therapy (highly anti-inflammatory check it out) pre transfer for her last successful transfer. Good luck and don’t give up. It shouldn’t be this hard but shows the failings of clinics not looking for answers and not understanding how hard miscarriage is. ❤️

I am so sorry about your fail transfers...they are heartbreaking 😞It seems your clinic isn't really having in consideration your situation, for what you said...I would definitely look into other clinics!

Wishing you all the best x

Hi, I would recommend endometrial scratch before another transfer. I did also PGTA and I got pregnant with healthy embryo.

Have you done the EMA, Alice and ERA test or anything similar?? I had 4 unsuccessful transfers and did the biopsy which found that my lining was pre receptive on day 6 and needed an extra 30 hours to be ready. Basically all my other transfers were too early. It also found I had none of the good bacteria in my lining that you need so I had to use LOADS of probiotics to fix that issue. My 5th transfer worked and I now have a 3 month old. If I hadn’t done that test I think the embryo would have been transferred too early again and wouldn’t have worked. That was the thing that finally worked for me. Just a suggestion. Good luck x

another recommendation for the ERA here. I had 5 transfers fail with donor eggs (young donor and excellent grades so unlikely to be egg quality issues). I then had an ERA which showed I needed an extra day of progesterone. The next transfer worked and I'm currently 17 weeks. I think its quite common with endo patients to need more time. Its good that your on lubion as higher levels of progesterone can help with inflammation, which is also common with endo
