Hi all, im starting first round ivf this week with stim injections predicted wednesday.

Ive heard lots about people feeling bloated and unwell during these and wondered how people got on with continuing to work.

After this how they managed after egg plantation as these are crucial weeks for us ivf warriors..

I have quite a physical job where I need to stand for hours. When I did my egg collection and stimulation (short protocol 2 weeks ) I took the last 3 days before egg collection as work from home because my belly was really swollen and couldn't walk much. Other than that I carried on as usual and just made sure I was home to do my injections or brought them with me if going out. For the transfer, mine was a frozen one so I went to work two days after it. I could have gone the following day on all honesty but decided to take it easy for the 48 h following transfer. Good luck with your treatment 🍀

I’ve only ever taken day of egg collection off (had 6 egg collections and been fine after each one and on stims) and an hour or so for transfer day. In the 2ww I have taken and gone on an actual holiday though which is nice but not needed distracts the mind more than anything else to have a mixture of work & holidays …. Staying home without work wouldn’t work for me at all 😂 but I know everyone is different and my work isn’t a physical type one xx

Good Morning 😊

I think with this it really does depend on how you cope and what sort of job you have. My job can be stressful on times, but during my first cycle I worked up until the day before egg collection. I did find this quite hard, as my shifts can differ and on one occasion I forgot to bring my medication with me and had to get my partner to bring it to me.

I felt okay to be there in terms of how I felt in myself, but for my next cycle I have organised to do my medication at home and my shifts have been altered around that. It just means I haven't got to mess around with the medication taking it here and there, and I can make sure I am able to give it properly rather than trying to do it between patients. I am again going take time off just before egg collection. I have then booked time off after this like I did last time which I felt I needed to be able to relax, walk and just generally take my mind off everything.

I am doing a different protocol this time however, so if I do feel rubbish leading up to egg collection I wont be going in - just be kind to yourself and see how you feel as work will always be there!

xxx

I've done 3 collections and felt fine to work. I've only ever taken off egg collection day and 1/2 day for transfer but my job is on a computer so think it depends on your job.

Take each day as it comes and go with how you feel. Don't worry about work, I wfh but I go with what makes me comfortable. Tonight will be my 5th on Bemfola 375iu, I woke up with pains on my left side so rang in sick, if I feel good tmw I'll work if I don't I won't...Just gotta roll with the waves.

I like that mantra . To be honest that is what ive been told just to take it day by day. I am entitled to a certain amount of days off for apps so im sure i can work around the rest if i need to. So i came on today but not "full flow" so looks like starting stims thursday and firsy scan 13th .. 😉

Some jobs class ivf as pregnancy related so shouldn't go down as normal absence or be penalised for.
