I've just had a failed FET with a euploid embryo and just have one low level mosaic left.
I'm feeling a bit of time pressure due to being almost 42 and I'm just not sure whether to go for another egg collection to try and 'bank' more embryos and leave the mosaic one where it is for now, or just go ahead and transfer the mosaic one ASAP.
My partner wants me to do another EC. I feel like I should just get on and have the FET as soon as I can even though I'm really upset about the bfn (I had high hopes because it was euploid).
I've had genetic counselling and know a low grade mosaic can go either way, but evidently, so can a euploid! Does anyone have any success stories with a mosaic embryo? I already have so much anxiety after 3 miscarriages and 2 failed attempts, I wonder whether I could cope if I got pregnant with the mosaic and it turned out to have abnormalities.
I will obviously discuss all of this with the consultant next week, but just wanted to get some opinions really x

I posted a similar post a few weeks ago as we have a complex low level mosaic. If you search within the group you will see my post and the replies x
The genetic councillor was really positive about the embryo but the consultant posted a really bleak picture. So now we’re preparing for another cycle at the end of March.
The FB group “my perfect mosaic embryo” is really informative.. it’s very American but has lots of positive stories xx
Same here, the genetic counsellor was very positive and even said it probably has almost as good a chance as the euploid (which didn't work anyway!) I think I'll get back in touch with her.
I don't know actually. I need to book another call in with her. I had a euploid one, so I was just concentrating on that one and didn't listen fully when she was talking about the mosaic one. I just assumed the euploid would work 😐
I have a call with my consultant booked in for next week, so I'll try and find out. I'm still considering another EC before transferring the mosaic one tbh, because I'm so anxious that I might miscarry again. Hopefully the consultant will be able to offer some advice. Did yours advise you to go straight for another egg collection rather than transfer the mosaic one?
I sometimes worry that they're just out to make money and that's why they suggest doing more rounds, but I think maybe I've just become very cynical considering everything I've been through!
Yeah the consultant advised us to do another retrieval as ours is complex low level so 3 chromosomes affected. He said the chance of it implanting and making it through the first trimester was only 17%.
He wants me to do a full immune protocol as I have raised cytokines so it’s a lot for 17%.
My husband says the same.. sometimes he feels they just say do another cycle as it’s a business at the end of the day. Our clinic is in Athens so we have the logistics of that to factor in also. I do understand the Dr’s rationale of doing another cycle but this is our 7th and will absolutely be the last!
Aww bless you. 7 rounds is a lot to go through! Good luck to you too.. Hope you manage to get a good number of eggs collected and your perfect little embryo x
We had two Euploids and they both failed to implant. I had three low level mosaics left and so we decided to do another egg collection, I wish we hadn’t as it was a complete waste of time. Got us two more mosaic embryos but that was it.
The clinic then urged us to do a transfer with one of the mosaics. Low grade mosaics, especially if they are segmental, have been found to have almost as much success as euploids. And the chance of anything being wrong with the embryo is lower than in an untested embryo or a natural pregnancy. They’ve been shown to self correct and that with detailed enough testing all embryos would show to be mosaic to some extent initially.
We went down the route of lots of tests including immune etc given we’d had two failed transfers of euploids and then went into our next transfer doing a different protocol and with some additional immune meds etc, that transfer was a low level mosaic and is now my perfect little one year old boy! So I’m a huge supporter of mosaic embryos, a lot of testing is now not even mentioning low level mosaics and instead counting them as Euploid as that is how successful they are.
Love this! Thank you! 😊 so pleased you got your little boy... I'll have another chat with the genetic counsellor to remind me what sort of abnormalities we're showing and then make a decision from there. This makes me feel a bit more positive though, thank you x
