AI grading of embryos

Hi everyone, Happy New Year I hope you're all surviving January!I'm wondering if anyone has any insights into AI embryo grading? I'm trying not to lose hope here but feeling discouraged..

We have been given grading of a couple of embryos, grades of 5.8 and 6.5 on the AI system, and it's made me really worried.

This AI grading system wasn't available at my clinic when the embryos were created in 2023 (at that stage it was 3AB etc), so it's been done retrospectively using the embyoscope footage, and we can see that the embryo which did implant but ended in a missed miscarriage was the top graded embryo (8.1). I believe immune issues were at play and I have been having treatment, but now I can't stop feeling that we used up our best shot.

Does anyone have experience of AI grading? It's really hard to find information online because it's relatively new technology. And of course I'm hoping for success stories with moderately graded embryos like ours.

I'm 42, like I said, trying not to panic but not doing a brilliant job!

Thanks for any insights or experiences 🙏🏼

I've no experience with the AI grading sorry but you've definitely not used your best chance. I had 4 high grade embryos fail to implant, the one I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant with was a low grade, I can't remember the exact grading but it was a 4bc I think?? I've heard so many similar stories from other women too 😊 please don't lose hope ✨️

Thanks Connie, and congratulations, that's great to hear. I think the newness of the AI scale threw me yesterday. I've heard of others having success with lower graded embryos too but just couldn't feel any less discouraged yesterday. I think nerves building up to our 4th transfer are at play as well! Thanks for the encouragement ✨✨✨

Hi lovely,

I’ve not heard of this but I would urge you to try not to worry about grading. It’s stressful enough without having to worry about that too.

The embryologist won’t freeze or transfer embryos that don’t stand a chance and that’s all you really need to know. Thinking about the numbers just stresses you out unnecessarily

For my last transfer I asked them not to tell me. I was like, it’s either going to work or not. The grading will only make me anxious

Xx

Thanks so much, you're totally right, I definitely need to hear this and try to take it on board- I'll have to keep reminding myself! There's so much the embryologists still don't know, I think the AI thing just threw me.. and breathe!

I transferred an embryo graded 10/10 by AI, and pgta tested and it failed nonetheless. Not sure the grading is relevant at all.
