hi I’ve done I’ve 4 cycles now (1 successful 3 unsuccessful)
I’m looking now at needing to use both donor eggs and donor sperm.
I can purchase a 6 or 9 egg package per cycle.
my question is to those who have used donor eggs before … how many did you purchase, and how many of those fertilised and how many viable embryos did the cycle result in?
Thankyou!

hi, I bought 6 frozen eggs, also used donor sperm and got 2 embryos, the first of which resulted in my daughter. I know that was lucky but I remember someone telling me that 6 eggs most likely to get 1-2 embryos and 9 eggs most likely to get 2-3 embryos. I opted for 6 because I had two cycles with 2 different egg donors included in the price so I didn’t want to spend extra to top up to 9 eggs per cycle as I hoped that a total of 12 eggs would be enough for a baby 🙏
I got 7 fresh and that made 3 blasts. The first two were bfn and the third and final I got my bfp. I had my protocol changed for the final one so had I have used this from the beginning it may not have been bfn for the first two.
Cycles with my own eggs I honestly can’t remember I’ve had so much treatment over the last 20 years but for my donor egg transfers for the first had x2 Estridol patches every 72 hours which I think is standard, and Cylogest (progesterone) x 2 daily. Second transfer the same with tinzaparin injection added x 1 daily. This final FET and my first ever BFP I have:
Estridol Patches x 2 every 72 hours
Estridol tablets 2mg x 3 daily
Cyclogest Pessaries x 3 daily
Lubion x 1 injection daily
Tinzaparin (blood thinner) x 1 daily
Prednisolone 5mg x 4 daily
I have no idea what I needed extra of from that list of any as all my tests came back ok. Despite having several unsuccessful fresh and frozen transfers with my own eggs and then de I didn’t have the ERA tests or anything just stuck to the standard cycles. I’m very early in my pregnancy but it’s my last frozen embie so just praying it stays with me
Congratulations! I had several losses with my own eggs. So we decided to go with Donor eggs first transfer failed with DE so this cycle the doctor add zoladex ! Another question when did you start you prednisone and blood thinners? I’m doing something different this time I’m starting estrogen, prednisone and blood thinners at the same time.
Thank you, and good luck for the next transfer. I have never heard of zoladex what is it? I stared it all together as well but steroids were 10mg a day that moved up to 20mg a day from transfer. When’s your next transfer ?
I had the zoladex shot 9/18 to calm my ovaries and then a week later I got my period , I’m on cycle day 6 I started estrogen this past Friday with prednisone 10 mg and clexane i don’t know when is my transfer yet I go for lining check next Monday, I hope this protocol works.
My package (donor refund guarantee) was different in that they guaranteed a minimum no. blasts per cycle. I got 3 from first donor and 7 from second. I used them all over 7 transfers to get my BFP 💖
I got 6 eggs only because I couldn't afford anymore. 6 frozen eggs. Ended up with 2 blastocysts. First time ever used a donor egg and our first embryo is now 4 weeks old baby boy 😍
Hi, I chose a batch of 6 frozen donor eggs. They actually gave me 7 - I got a free bonus one. I think they all fertilised but some didn’t make it or weren’t good enough quality. I ended up with 3 ‘outstanding’ embryos and the 3rd one stuck - I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant x
I got donor eggs for my last ivf cykle (done 5 with my own eggs which resulted in one pregnancy unfortunately miscarriage at 7eeeks). I purchased 6 eggs ( consultant recommended 6) and got 5 blastocyst. Just had one transfer on the 10th September and high resulted in the pregnancy but after two weeks we lost it. Unfortunately I have essential thrombocytea and my platelets are above 1100 so that might be an issue as I have 50% chances to miscarriage with this illness. Hopefully will do second transfer in November. Looking to transfer two embryos but still hesitatating. I’m 42. Good luck!
Hi. We purchased 6 fresh eggs and was lucky enough to get 6 blastocysts. Unfortunately 1-4 were unsuccessful. I transferred the last 2 (embryos 5 & 6) 23rd Sept, so I'm waiting and praying these stick. We can't afford anymore cycles and mentally I don't have it in me to go through this again. Good luck
We paid to receive all eggs retrieved from our donor in one egg collection. This was 11 eggs and they resulted in 7 embryos, using ICSI and my husband’s sperm. We ended up PGS testing the last 5 embryos and 4 were genetically normal. Our third donor FET resulted in this pregnancy and I’m currently 37 weeks. It was our 6th transfer overall and we also took an immune protocol as I had very high natural killer cells. Best of luck.
I got bought 10 eggs the first time, got 11 (there was one extra that could not be sold seprately) 7 fertilised got 4 blasts - none stuck. Got a new batch of 10 from 2 diffrent donors, got 13 (3 extra) 11 fertilised and got 9 blasts. First 2 didn't stick. Got blood test today for the 7th transfer with a new protocal (steroids)🤞. I have a friend who got 4 blasts out of 7 fertilised and got pregnant first time (and second time) so there are still a lot of variables in play if it works quickly or not! Best of luck with whatever you decide!
