I hope this post does not upset anyone and gives hope to all those currently going through IVF. In times of despair I found posts on this forum inspirational and full of advice.
In July, at the age of 44, I gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl! π
My journey to motherhood was long, emotional and with its own challenges: it took 3 years, 7 IVF cycles with my own eggs and 7 transfers to get to this moment. That's on top of many tests, treatments, 2 attempts at myomectomy (the first one resulted in anaphylaxis and led to no longer being allowed to have egg collections under anaesthetic), hysteroscopy, cancelled cycles due to under/overstimulation...
What I've learned on this IVF journey, which at times has been mentally quite tough, is that:
- you should be your own advocate
- egg quality can be improved
- you should undergo all possible fertility tests and treatments prior to transfers even when you have no symptoms
Don't give up! Miracles do happen!
