I hope this post does not upset anyone and gives hope to all those currently going through IVF. In times of despair I found posts on this forum inspirational and full of advice.

In July, at the age of 44, I gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl! πŸ’ž

My journey to motherhood was long, emotional and with its own challenges: it took 3 years, 7 IVF cycles with my own eggs and 7 transfers to get to this moment. That's on top of many tests, treatments, 2 attempts at myomectomy (the first one resulted in anaphylaxis and led to no longer being allowed to have egg collections under anaesthetic), hysteroscopy, cancelled cycles due to under/overstimulation...

What I've learned on this IVF journey, which at times has been mentally quite tough, is that:

- you should be your own advocate

- egg quality can be improved

- you should undergo all possible fertility tests and treatments prior to transfers even when you have no symptoms

Don't give up! Miracles do happen!

Hi there, regarding supplements, firstly, instead of taking COQ10 or Ubiquinol, I was taking MitoQ, as I read it is much more effective and helps with egg quality in older women:

monash.edu/discovery-instit...

mitoq.com/

I was also taking Acai Berries, TruNiagen, DHEA, PQQ, Vitamin D, Omega 3, NAC, Acetyl-L-Carnitine and Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Wishing you best of luck!

After seeing your message, gives hope still chance in 40s. I really want to have a sibling for my girl and want to do everything I can do. You mentioned that the egg quality can be improved. Congratulations, what a lovely post. I'm a similar age and on cycle 6 and this gives me some hope. May I ask what fertility tests you are referring to before transfer? Thanks for sharing, enjoy every moment with your baby girl 🩷

Gold00 profile image
Gold00β€’ in reply toVassi

Hi Vassi,

Thanks! The tests that I had were ERA/Emma/Alice and NK Cells, as well as a baseline scan, which, even though I had no symptoms, uncovered a few issues. I then underwent treatments prior to transferring the tested embryo and it worked!

Thank you for replying. Did the Era/Emma/Alice show anything? What protocol did you do for the transfer? So happy it worked for you x

Yes, Emma test showed I had 0 % of lactobacillus, even though I had no symptoms. I did frozen transfer.
