Starting treatment in Athens

Hi lovely supportive people

Hoping to get a little more support. This is final go. I'm now planning on going with IVF treatment with Serum IVF in Athens Greece. Booking flights for the coming Sunday to have pre-treatment tests including PRP to hopefully increase my chances even if it isn't that high. The first trip for 3 days I'm going on my own - so feeling a little nervous but really cant wait on friends to be ready for me. This is just a shout out for some moral support.

I'm looking at that clinic too (I'm 43) and my friend is being treated there september 12.

Yes they offer you a lot of tests upfront. I declined the PRP and all the fancy tests. Interested to hear how it goes for you.

I've always wanted to visit Athens so choosing a clinic there would be cool. Lots to see and do if you're feeling up to it.

You'll be fine going solo. I did my first cycle in Spain solo! I met a woman on a fertility channel who offered to phone me after my egg collection operation. I had no idea I'd want to speak to someone but it was really nice of her and I did need to speak to someone after to process the whole experience.I went to visit her last weekend in Nottingham.

Pls let me know if you would like to chat after. My friends have no idea what this process is like so it was more useful to me to speak with someone who gets it x x

Thank you Sja1981This is my last go so thought I'd try what they suggest. Being 48 I know my chances are low so willing to try anything.

I got here today, it's lovely and warm. Had a wonder round this afternoon as not sure I'll have time in the next few days (I fly home on Wednesday).

Well it's been torrential rain in the south of the UK today so I'd say you are having a better time than me! My friend is really focused on her own treatment and a bit stressed so probably not the right person for you to meet up with ATM.

Are you finding the clinic friendly and supportive?

Just shout if you need to speak to someone who gets it and we can connect on WhatsApp.

Lots of luck! I travelled to Spain on my own on 4 separate occasions. It was tough but I would suggest taking lots of magazines, books and your tablet. If you get a VPN you could watch things on your tablet. Athens is nice and you could do a bit of the touristy thing. However definitely feel free to give me a pm if you want to chat etc. I’ve been there so totally get it! Xx

Glad you are able to get a wander. I've stayed with my friend when I was there. She took me to the Acropolis museum which was good and we also went to the Olympic stadium. Other than that just wandering was good! Good luck with your treatment. Let me know how you get on. Feel free to PM me! Xx

I travelled to Cyprus twice on my own for my last two cycles, we couldn’t afford for my partner and myself to travel. It is a lot but as with all things ivf you get through it and you will be fine. I’m 44 and this last cycle has worked so far, I’m 15w 4days, so all worth the effort of ivf abroad. Wishing you so much luck and strength and if you have any questions please do message me. xxx

We had our tests & ivf treatment here and had a wonderful experience. We are back for FET in a few weeks, we absolutely love Athens! I know you don’t have much time but do explore Plaka and Monasteraki areas. The Little Kook cafe is a must see also and a nice place to treat yourself after all the tests.

We are hoping for success this time but even still Athens holds a very special place in our hearts as does the clinic.
