*potentially sensitive* BFP at 6dp5dt - How much cramping is too much? Edit- it turned out to be late onset OHSS

I've had moderate period cramps on and off since the evening of 2dpt. It seems to start in the evening and the last 2 nights it's been quite intense. I caved yesterday afternoon and did a test and couldn't believe it when the second line came up instantly. I know i shouldn't have tested, OTD isn't until Monday and I'm scared that it won't stick and i don't know if it's worse now that I've got my hopes up.

Last night i woke up at 1am with really bad cramps, and had an awful upset stomach with it. I felt really sick and i was absolutely drenched in sweat and I'm worried that this could be a sign that it's not going as it should and that something is wrong. I've never had a positive test before so i don't know what to expect, and i don't know if any of it could be from the progesterone pessaries but i never had anything like this in my last cycle. Today i feel really warm and like i can't regulate my temperature, and i still have cramps although very mild now to the point that i don't think I'd notice if i wasn't symptom spotting. Has anyone else had really bad cramps and gone on to have a positive outcome?

Update - my pain has just got worse since i posted this and seems to be coming in waves, it peaks in the evening and is waking me up at night. My abdomen is really swollen, i look heavily pregnant and I'm so uncomfortable. I contacted my clinic and they got me in for an emergency scan today and confirmed i have secondary OHSS with multiple pools of fluid seen on the scan, which has come as a surprise as i wasn't thought to have any of the risk factors.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone else is experiencing anything similar, it's just worth getting checked over.

Hi lovely,

Congratulations on your BFP! I've always held off testing early because I couldn't bear to know.... but this past one I tested from day 3 and saw a faint positive at day 5.... then it was a hideous rollercoaster until OTD because I was obsessed with line progression (and it didn't seem to get much darker until about day 8 - in my eyes anyway).

What I would say is that at this stage, symptoms don't mean anything really - most of them are caused by the meds - so try not to read in to them either way. Especially cramping - it can be good or bad so just try to ride it out.

I would also advise not testing every single day - its so hard not to once you've seen that faint line - but it won't darken for a good 48 hours so you'll just drive yourself mad xx

Thank you. I know you're right and that is probably the advice i would give to anyone else!

As much as i know in my heart that any symptoms i have now are probably from the meds, and there is no way of knowing what is actually happening and if it's good or bad, it's so hard not to overthink it x

Hi. I would carry on with all prescribed medication and test first urine of the day when recommended by your clinic. Cramping could be the sign of urine infection, so drink plenty of water to ensure you pass plenty of pale urine. Only take paracetamol for pain relief. No anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Avoid constipation. . Good luck. Diane
