Frustration

I'm not really looking for any answers I just wanted to tell people who will understand.I am writing this in floods of tears. Myself and my partner have been waiting for our first consultation for almost a year. We finally had our phone call and an appointment was made for June 19th. All the waiting has been endlessly stressful especially as time seems to be against us. Anyway, our appointment was cancelled last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. When I asked about waiting times for the next appointment I was reassured we were priority and it would be weeks. Well, we've had our appointment and it's the end of October!

I totally understand these things happen and very grateful to be able to have the NHS but the waiting is killing me!! It just feels like such an uphill battle. I'm so sorry for the rant, I know everyone is going through their own struggles x

I am so sorry, this is extremely frustrating. Reading it ot took me back to the time I had NHS treatment. Yes grateful for being able to have treatment funded but awfully frustrated about their procedures delays and unreasonable timescales. I had to wait 2 whole months to get the appointment with my results of a simple blood test (when the actual results were available in 2-3 days) and discuss next steps. if I hadn't waited these two months I would have started my treatment before the covid closures which resulted in another 10 month delay. You could write to them. Whilst a 2-3 weeks delay can be acceptable a four month delay is very unreasonable.

I would try ringing them and advocating for yourself to be soon earlier. Ask to be offered any cancellations? I also remember feeling incredibly disappointed when I had a series of appointments for my first cycle of treatment cancelled due to staff sickness. I was also later affected by cancellations due to doctor's strikes. It was so difficult when you have psyched yourself up and are expecting to be on your way. To be honest I had some other bad experiences with NHS treatment as well including them running out of medication mid-way when I was on stims for OI (had been injecting for 21 days) and reducing the number of scans I had per week to only 2 instead of 3 due to staff shortages which led to me over-respond. I was on the verge of making a complaint and spoke to PALS but never did in the end as I had on-going treatment to deal with. I did however a write to the consultant a pretty arsey letter setting out my concerns and that certainly had an effect as I was treated with more care after that. Sadly when the NHS is so understaffed without shouting to be heard you will fall the bottom of a big heap. It was easier going private in the end as there were almost no waiting times at all, ut of course you have to make the most of what the NHS can offer you.

This same thing happened to me when we had our first NHS consultation! Supposed to be last September and then got rebooked for December. It's absolutely devastating isn't it? And for me it felt like there was no recognition from the clinic of how distressing it was. I even made a formal complaint, which was never acknowledged. Ours was booked through an online booking portal, so thankfully I was able to nab an earlier cancellation after logging on repeatedly, so we managed to get seen early October - I suppose there must be a fair few cancellations for fertility clinics as people end up falling pregnant naturally. Don't be afraid to keep badgering the clinic for cancellations. You've waited patiently in line and it's your turn now!

I went through something similar with NHS - long waits for appointments, cancelling last minute and then the appointment being rescheduled for months later. What got me through quicker was calling for cancellations, get your name on that list! Also, once you’re under a consultant, be very nice to their secretary - they can keep you in mind for cancellations, help you with getting copies of results etc. It just pays to be kind and polite 🙂

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this! I completely understand and it's so tough to keep going when it's just all consuming! I had my first appointment in 2021 and I'm only just about to start my second cycle!!! We experienced massive delays at the start and I've also had to have two lots of surgeries which has obviously slowed everything down. But what I will say is, once you're through the door, your funding is all secured etc, everything happens really fast. I would definitely keep ringing the clinic just in case you can get a cancellation. Keep everything crossed for you x

Hi darling ,sorry to hear that.

If I be completely honest with you

I believe it happens when its a time and that is when you are at compelete peace with yourself and body …telling yourself Im not going to rush it or stuck with the idea how badly I want it …carry on with your life and prepare your body and mind ..nurish it with best food ..and tought and it happens on the right time …

Stress and pressure wont do any good and I saw it in myself and my friends and patients .

You think you are running out of time but who set the timing ? My sister got pregnant when she was premenopausal at 45 with her last embryo after 15 attempts

But she was really coool and calm and content cause she accepted might or might not be her faith
