I have a day 6 embryo that has been frozen. I have heard that day 5 embryos are better than day6 and success rate is higher for day5. Although my day5 euploid didn’t implant.
Can anyone share their experiences with day 6 embryo and what was done to improve the chances of pregnancies. I have mild adeno and might have to go for down regulation.
I have also heard with adeno one should go for ERA test but I am not sure.!
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. I am planning to go for another round of egg retrieval but I am not sure if I will have any viable eggs or embryos as I am in the low AMH and advanced AMH category.
Thank you 🙏🏻

I had a highly rated day 5 pgt-a tested embryo fail to implant with a fully medicated cycle.
Just had a highly rated day 6 pgt-a tested embryo implant (I’m about 16 days past transfer to its early). We did a modified natural this time with lovenox injections too.
I think the difference is minimal in terms of success rate. Sometimes it can be the protocol itself. Good luck to you!!
My modified natural was taking letrozole and a trigger shot to have my body ovulate on its own and time the transfer based on that. My re’s theory was that some women need the extra things that ovulation can provide. Lovenox is a blood thinner used for women with recurrent miscarriage or clotting issues. I don’t have blood clotting issues or a history of early loss but she suggested we try it because it couldn’t hurt. I had 2 transfers fail before this.
It includes downregulation prior to the FET cycle. They put you on meds that mimic menopause to zero out all the hormones and start afresh with meds once you get your withdrawal bleed. I’ve not experienced any other type of protocol, despite of two fails, the third one was a charm. You mentioned you have adenomyosis, downregulation might benefit you to calm the condition down, but best to discuss all options with your clinic. Best of luck!!
Hi Shwet_16. I had five transfers of top quality day 5 blasts. All BFN. I had my day 6 embryo transferred in May and have my very first BFP. They say if it is good enough to freeze and that's certainly the case for me 🙂
Hi, no I dont have adenomyosis. We are completely unexplained infertility with regular cycles. I suspect you can't have natural FET with down regulation as the natural FET relies on your body ovulating and the products of ovulation in terms of regulation of your hormones. Definitely worth discussing with your clinic though 👌
We recently had this discussion with our consultant. We had 1 fresh and 1 frozen with day 5 blasts - both BFN. 1 of our 5 day blasts didn’t survive the thaw. We have 1 x 6 day blast left.
We’re now out of NHS funding and had to decide whether to start with a FET or move forward with another egg collection.
Our consultant said that there is evidence that 6 day embryos are less likely to be successful than 5 days. From that we’ve decided to go ahead with a new egg collection as age isn’t on my side.
I’ve started on supplements to improve egg quality - Coq10, alpha lipoic acid and n-acetyl cysteine. My consultant advised the high dose Coq10 as there is clinical evidence for it. I saw a few people recommend the book - It starts with the egg - and have taken advice from that for supplements.
This will be our last egg collection so just trying to do everything we can to improve our chances.
Thank you. I have been taking NAC and ubiqunol. I have stopped taking r-alpha lipoic acid cause I heard it can interfere with your thyroid. I had hypo and hyper thyroidism at one point so don’t want it to mess up anything.
It’s the last egg collection for me as well. I will be done after this! It’s so hard.
