I've read it can mess up your ovulation, which I am scared about, but after 2.5 years TTC am so down that am not bothered that it does , and am very anxious about heavy periods and a work event am attending.
any other side affects I should know about?
thanks!

I’ve had to take them to time an IVF start with CARE - they made me a bit PMSish but not too bad. Think effects very short lived so wouldn’t worry about affect on ovulation down the line.
Are you taking them in relation to fertility treatment or just to delay your period for the event? It may depend on the type, but when I was prescribed norethisterone to time my period for IVF, I was told not to have unprotected intercourse for that cycle because if you do end up getting pregnant, it can be bad for the baby, and you will have already ovulated when you start taking them. I haven't heard anything about them messing up ovulation though.
Hi. Often used to down regulate you in IVF then you are scanned to see if everything is quiet so you can start stimulation drugs. Try not to worry. Good luck. Diane
Thank you all, I spoke with GP and she said as long as you don't take it long term should have be ok, and you guys have reassures me. thank you so much
I posted a similar question before. It seems that some women have been told categorically not to TTC whilst on norithisterone as there could be effects on baby if you did conceive naturally. My clinic on the other hand were pretty relaxed about it… and I’m now 6 weeks pregnant!
Oh the only thing I would say is that (pre TTC) I’ve taken norithisterone probably a dozen times to delay heavy period due to holiday etc. All fine and didn’t mess with next cycle at all except in one case where I didn’t bleed until about 10 days (rather than 3 days) after stopping it.
