baby measuring behind/hcg

I am currently 7.5 weeks pregnant.. my first ultrasound was vaginally at 5 weeks 4 days due to some pain, and all ways measuring normal- the sac was seen in the right location, no baby yet. Next ultrasound was vaginally at 7 weeks on the dot, and I was measuring 6 weeks, fetal pole was detected and heartbeat could be seen, not heard. Today I am 7.5 weeks and had a belly ultrasound and am still measuring 6 weeks, still have a heartbeat... do you think that's normal? Do you know anyone that this has happened to? I have a vaginal ultrasound with my OB Monday and they didn't seem concerned they just wanted to follow up to be sure it was growing.. I got my progesterone drawn at 9 and hcg at 14,133 at now 8 weeks, OB said that seemed normal but seems low to me?

Hi there.I don't have any words of wisdom for you as I am going through the same thing at the minute apart from baby is measuring 2 weeks behind.Consultant still thinks viable due to heartbeat but in my case I don't think it is as even though my cycle is irregular i know when i last had sex.Im hoping it all works out for you.x

hey 👋 scans are so difficult to compare because the measurements are absolutely tiny and is very dependent on the scanner. I would say it’s difficult to compare internal va abdominal scans (especially if you have a retroverted uterus like me!) at one of my scans I was measuring 5mm larger CRL on internal scan compared to abdominal which is quite significant difference! I would definitely get another internal a week after and compare from there. It’s great there is a heartbeat, I was absolutely paranoid at that stage and I still am as I always measure consistently 2 days behind my ivf dates 🙈 xxx

Lana14 I would second this. I have been in Radiology. It's very difficult to compare transvaginal and transabdominal scan measurements as they are literally happening in different dimensions. And also the variability of radiologist makes a significant difference. Totally agree with Cutecolliedog about repeating a transvaginal scan 1 week after the previous one, preferably by the same person. (I was paranoid! I did weekly private scans from one person!). All the best 😊

Hi Lana. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about.. little one has a strong heartbeat. Perhaps just go for abdominal scans, and hopefully they will remain consistent. Keep up. With any prescribed medication and hopefully all will continue as it should. Thinking of you. Diane
