Heavy periods

I’ve just started towards my next next FET and I’m concerned at the heaviness and clots from my period. I had endo zapped a few years ago before my first IVF with OE. Moved on to DE now. My clinic don’t seem to be concerned or want to do any investigations/treatment, but after 6 failed transfers of 8 embryos it’s playing on my mind.

Any advice or experiences?

Hi ,

I have endometriosis & adenemyosis.

I did have laporscopy surgery in July 23 to investigate & remove endo where possible.

I’ve had another fresh double transfer since with top quality day 3 embryos. These failed to implant.

Although I do have immune issues been treated also my consultant feels it’s my adenemyosis that could be the reason for no implantation. Therefore my next cycle , hopefully get 1-2 viable embryos. Freeze and then down reg for 3 months to calm down my endo / ado. Then transfer .

It’s a long process but it’s something I’ve not tried yet .

xx

That’s interesting. How does down reg help? Though I have down reg with the majority of my transfers as they have been FET DE, so not sure whether would be applicable to me x

Down regging is to calm my endo and adenemyosis down , hopefully making my womb a less hostile environment so to speak, therefor hopefully a better chance for my next transfer .

I spoke to my clinic and they said as DE it’s not an issue. Plus I have been down reg anyway 😊

sorry you’ve had to face so much. I know the pain of multiple failed transfers. You say your endo was “zapped” - is that ablation? Unfortunately ablation is much less effective and more prone to recurrence of endo than excision. My experience is that IVF clinics are very happy to ignore further investigation and treatment of endo while they can rake in the cash with failed IVF cycles after failed cycles. Might just be me being cynical but… I sought some second and third and fourth opinions which led me to have excision of my endo before Xmas. I have had a naturally conceived pregnancy since (huge surprise given it’s not happened in years jf trying or years of IVF) though sadly ending with ectopic and loss of a tube. However I do believe treating the endo has at least changed something.

Really hope you find answers and finally have success ❤️

I don’t know what the surgery was, it was a few years ago. I guess I could find out. And I think I have a copy of my medical notes at home. I’m on a refund guarantee programme, so it’s actually costing my clinic with each failure, and I’m sure they don’t want to refund me! I have just messaged them with my concerns though. My periods aren’t ridiculously heavy, but 1 afternoon was pretty crampy with lots of clots 😏

After whatever they did to my endo previously I still had BFN so maybe it’s not a factor? So frustrating 😕 x

I honestly would get some investigations done if you can . You know your own body . It could also just be from the medication , but it could also be your body trying to tell you something. I have been recommended the Emma / Alice test by a very respected gynaecologist. Don’t be worried about so called add ons . They are there for patients who don’t fit into the standard box and need a more bespoke plan xxx

I’ve messaged my clinic to see what they say. I’m not interested in EMMA or ALICE tests and my clinic don’t recommend them. I am prescribed clexane again though and I might start baby aspirin again. So hard isn’t it when you are desperate for answers! X

I think he is recommending that as I have a niche and I also keep getting UTIs . It is the hardest thing xxx

Ah ok. I think you just have to trust what you are told sometimes don’t you. I worry I’m annoying my dr when I start to question things ☹️ x

can i ask why they don’t recommend it ? Xx

EMMA/ALICE as not proven results from research and they also said that your levels change throughout your cycle so when do you measure, and what’s the optimal result. They prescribe me Clexane and prednisolone anyway. X

did they say why they pescribed that ? X

Both are used as treatment as a result of EMMA/ALICE tests and can help with immunological issues, blood clotting and recurrent implantation failure x

I might ask for it then … he wants to give me antibiotics if my biopsy is abnormal . It’s such a long winded process 😩 xxx

My clinic were happy to prescribe both. They both weren’t too expensive, especially the prednisolone. Have you tried vaginal probiotics? X

no , nothing . I haven’t got a clue what to take etc . U did a private swab and I have 75 % good bacteria … whatever that means 😂 I feel like I am fully going off on a tangent as I so desperately want this to work . X

I can definitely feel when my hormones change around my period so last time I used them and I felt the benefit although still BFN, but I’m going to try them again. They are only around £15 for the lol course. I’ve not had any tests and my clinic aren’t wanting any but I think you sometimes know your own body. I’m taking several supplements that my clinic have said do no harm, also out of desperation probably! X

is it the canesflor ? I might try them out . I actually bought some and haven’t used them . X

Yes that’s the ones. I used one a day up to my transfer last time x
