Period day 8 after ET

How do you cope when you don’t even make it to OTD? Started light cramps and black spotting on day 7, i thought could it be…? Then nothing on day 8 till the evening then saw fresh blood…. I broke down. I didn’t even know you can get your period whilst on cyclogest!

I just feel so useless, guilty, feel ashamed.

Will i ever have a child? Or if you fail an IVF then you are out of the game for good?

I feel so low, never’ve been in my whole life….

Clinic said to go ahead w pessaries till Sunday and then test but what’s the point if i’m already bleeding?

I’m so sorry. This happened to me on a couple of rounds, but it did work for me eventually - easy for me to say but don’t lose hope. Was this your first round?

Yes, the very first round. I didn’t know this coupd happen. I thought i prepared myself to have a negative resuot otd but getting my period was an absolute shock. How many rounds you did?

Hiya, I think it’s really important that you go into each round, especially your first, with a trial and error mindset. If something isn’t quite right you are one step closer to fixing it and therefore one step forward to getting that positive.

The clinic will be able to work out what would be more likely to support your pregnancy for your next try.

It is a really hard journey, but the end reward will be worth it in the end.

This happened to me on my second round - I had spotting and bleeding before OTD even though it was an early BFP (although never very strong and it ended about a week after OTD). The consultant said you shouldn't get spotting or bleeding while on meds if the progesterone is working properly. I was only on cyclogest for that and the transfer before (which was aslso and early loss). For my next transfer/first FET they changed the form (to vaginal pessaries) and added lubion injections. That one was successful. The first round is often a bit of an experiment and you and your doctors can learn a lot from it. And don't be too down hearted that the first transfer didn't work, it's really hard but it often takes a few goes even when everything seems perfect.

thank you very much for the responses! I will have my follow up consultation with the clinic on Monday, but you reassured me in my belief that i must have got my period as cyclogest was not enough / did not work well. This just gives me some hope, as my biggest fear is that i have implantation issues and nothing will help. I guess most of us fear from this first after the failed cycle. But if it’s the progesteron levels i hope that can be treated like you say, with sn alternative.

I’m so sorry, I’ve had this on a couple of rounds and now I’ve upped progesterone by having lubion injections as well as pessaries it’s stopped. I’ve also had a successful transfer after 6 IUIs and 2 failed IVFs before so I know the answer to your question about ‘failing’ will not never work is absolutely not it has no bearing on what will happen on your next transfer 🤗

Personally I would do a test now and be certain it’s a BFN this time before making anay decisions about stopping meds xx

HelloThis happened to me on my first round of IVF, with my period arriving in about a week. However, I have now been successful on my third go...telling you this to say, have the hope. I know it's hard but there's always hope. It might take you a while to get over this and have the hope again but it will come. Sending all the hugs xxx

I didn’t bleed, but the pains were identical to period pains and a few hours after my last pessary, the period from hell arrived - clearly it just had been waiting in the background to appear!

I’ve recently had my first round and was told they wouldn’t change anything next time round - which scared me a little but we just have to keep the faith and go again.

this isn’t a good news story but I did get a bfp after bleeding on day 7 onwards and what felt and looked very much like a period. I tested on OTD expecting a negative and had a faint positive. It did get stronger but unfortunately ended in a pregnancy of u known location and suspected ectopic . I won’t go into lots of detail as you’ll want to hear the positives but all I will say is the clinic told me bleeding doesn’t necessarily mean it’s failed xx

Did you test? I know some ladies bleed and they still have positive tests and good outcome later.

After my 1st FET I had spotting (fresh red) 3 days before OTD, my tests were still strong and on the scan (I begged for EPAS to see me 🙈) they could see sac and baby in there, bleeding was caused by some "haziness" in uterus which could cause bleeding. This pregnancy resulted in now my 2yo boy.

TMI -

My 2nd FET I had proper bleeding, more like hemorrhage on the scan day/official sign off from the clinic - they managed to see normal measuring baby with strong heartbeat - unfortunately we lost it day later as unexplained hemorrhage picked up again.
