Hi everyone, day two I have 4 embryos (3 are developing normal, 1 is developing slowly). My clinic asked me if I want to go with transfer or pgt. I asked them what they do suggest and they just tell me the options but no suggestion. I am confused. I have to decide by tomorrow. I turn 42 soon.
Please let me know if you have been gone through the same situation and what have you decided 🙏.

hello, to have 4 embryos at this stage is brilliant. I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago with 3 embryos. I had planned to do pgta testing but on egg collection day the clinic said as I’d taken all the meds I needed for transfer( intralipids etc) they recommended I transfer 1 and test the others. Their view was they want to achieve a pregnancy and that we should give 1 a chance. I’m currently in early pregnancy 😊🙏 my pgta testing has come back and there wasn’t a normal embryo. So I won’t lie I’m worried I’m going to have a 3rd miscarriage but trying to take every day as it comes until my 7 week scan. Wishing you all the very best with your choice xxx
Hi Poppygarden, congrats and hope everything goes well 🙏. I am thinking to do the same. If I get 4 to test 2 and transfer 2 but I still have to wait to see whether they will make it to blastocyst. Thank you for replying.
what day are you on is this your day 5 or day 3 update? If less than 2 make it to day 5 I would just transfer but if more I would transfer 1 and test the others would be my personal thoughts on it xx
Today is day three. I am waiting for update to see how many embryos made to day three and than decide. My heart goes toward transferring one and testing the rest but still not sure. Thanks 🤗
If it was me, at 42 I’d PGTA. In honesty, your clinic should be doing more to advise you of what happens both ways etc. I’m 39, 6 transfers in and was told if we did more collections PGT should be a must (egg age and sperm issues) but they went through everything with us.
You can absolutely achieve a successful transfer without PGT 40+, but I wouldn’t want the heartache of multiple transfers if they were embryos that were not normal. I wish I’d done PGT earlier but that’s my own personal case and I know it’s very personal to everyone.
Thank you! I am still undecided on this it is tough. I will wait for update from my clinic and see what I will do. Thank you for replying.
Heya, it’s a super hard decision to make. We had 6 blasts, 5 top quality and one 5BC. We transferred a 5AA which failed so we tested the remaining 4 top quality - all came back with complex abnormalities. We have one 5BC untested still frozen.
My personal thoughts on it; we have potentially saved ourselves £1,000’s of pounds and heartbreak from transferring 4 abnormal embryos. However, my gut has a heavy ‘what if’ feeling. What if they got it wrong, what if actually one went on to become a healthy pregnancy.
I’ve decided if we do proceed with another round - we probably won’t test and maybe transfer in doubles (if we’re lucky enough to produce blasts). It’s hard, a really hard decision. Lots of luck and love xx
I had most of my collections at around 41/42 and opted for PGT, unfortunately all 12 embryos from 6 rounds came back complex abnormal, except 1, which was abnormal. If the clinic had given me the option to transfer I probably would have taken it, because at the time I kept reading studies about how sometimes embryos can correct themselves in the womb. I do know now that not transferring probably saved us heartache, time and money but there is always a part of me that wonders what if. It’s such a tough and personal decision, I know people who have got a normal embryo at 44 xx.
