The big ones are medicated vs natural. From what I’ve read, they have similar success rates but the natural one may have better outcomes for the pregnant woman in terms of blood pressure etc if it gets to that stage. But with that said, some women need extra help and can’t just do natural so the benefit of medication outweighs the risk. And many clinics don’t seem to even offer the natural option, because the scheduling may be too unpredictable or they may not work at the weekend and so on.
You should speak to your consultant and see what they recommend for you and whether the clinic you’re at offers natural FET’s.
I had a fresh transfer that resulted in a chemical and then the consultant said that I would be a good candidate for a fully natural FET, so I tried that. I was also keen to try out a transfer where my body was not under the stress of extra hormones because our infertility issue is on my husband’s side anyway.
With that said, I felt a bit “naked” without the added progesterone and ultimately my natural FET was unsuccessful. But I wouldn’t necessarily attribute it to the choice of FET, as the embryo was a pretty low grade. I did enjoy how non-disruptive the natural FET was though, and therefore much less stress and heightened emotions compared to my previous transfer. So I would 100% do it again if my consultant recommended it. It made the 2WW a whole lot easier as well.
In preparation for the FET I did acupuncture for a full cycle before the FET and the usual sessions before and after the transfer. It clearly didn’t help with the transfer but it helped in keeping me relaxed and calm and for me that was invaluable as I was a wreck during my previous 2ww.
Other women will swear by probiotics and pineapple core and the superstition of McDonald’s fries after FET and who really knows what really works. Just do whatever will help you feel more in control or help you cope with the whole process. But I wouldn’t recommend doing things you read in here if they ultimately just stress you out in trying to keep up with them.
