Failed modified natural FET - wrong protocol?

Hi there, I would appreciate experiences from those who did a modified natural FET.

My doctor, for whatever reason, asked me to trigger one day then start progesterone 2 hours later, and the transfer was 5 days after trigger. I found that bizarre because the nurses had originally told me that progesterone is taken 36 hours after trigger and the transfer 5 days after that.

It was a BFN for me and I can’t help but wonder whether it was a timing issue? Maybe the trigger and progesterone should’ve been spaced out?

I will ask my doctor at my follow up but would appreciate hearing from others who did a modified natural cycle. Feeling very upset that this could’ve impacted the results.

does seem odd! Definitely worth questioning the timing. I did a natural transfer last time (no trigger though) and my transfer was 7 days after positive ovulation test 😊 unless taking the trigger makes the timing different? I would be asking for consultation to query the timing of it all for sure xx

Thank you, that’s helpful. It all seemed strange to me but I didn’t want to question it at the time - doctors typically don’t like this! However now that it failed I will certainly query it xx

hi I can't help re natural cycle as not had this before. I'm sorry to hear it wasn't your time yet. But it's on its way.

🤞❤️

Have you had the Alice, Emma and era testing done? It tells your consultant the exact time you need to transfer? It's a really weird but amazing science to it.

Thanks for this. I’ll bring it up with my doctor at our follow-up x

I had a modified natural cycle and the trigger shot was 7 days before transfer, pessarys started 48hrs after trigger (BFP).

Previous transfer was 5 days after trigger and pessarys started same day as trigger.. this was also a BFP.. I was worried with my second as the transfer was 2 days later so I was sure it wasn’t going to work but they didn’t seem worried. ask them when you meet to review in case they had any reasons behind the treatment.. Good luck !!

thank you so much for this - really reassuring that it worked with both scenarios. I’ve been winding myself up thinking maybe it’s the protocol that was wrong. I rang the nurses today and they said it’s because I was about to ovulate when I had the scan, so I had to trigger on the same day and start the pessaries.

Thanks again and many congratulations xx
