Does anyone have any plus size fertility clinic recommendations i've tried every route through the GP and getting no where, simply been told to lose weight.

can you try abroad? I’m in Australia and haven’t had that issue here, and the European clinics seem to be the same?
so annoying isn't it! I am a tall lady at 6'2" and told my weight could be a factor (my partner was not told the same of course or even checked), and I got my weight down to 27/28 (and we all know BMI is BS and out-dated marker) and got told then I was too old. Argh. I definitely have seen European clinics with broader BMI requirements as TeddyBear5 said. Good luck <3
Is it that the weight can cause issues with getting pregnant and during the pregnancy and that’s why they won’t refer you? Have they said it’ll raise your chances with ivf if you lowered the weight? You could approach the clinics direct for a consultation and see if they would say the same if you were a private patient to see if ultimately your going to have to loose weight regardless.
honestly the uk are a joke I was told my bmi was far too high so I lost 5 stone but couldn’t get below the level they wanted we went abroad instead and the doctor told me losing the weight had been worse for my fertility as it had buggered up all my hormones. My clinic was not interested in weight at al didn’t weigh me once xxx
I was a private patient and my clinic’s BMI limit was 35… so still not ideal but higher than the pointless measure that the NHS use. Have you looked at fatpositivefertility on IG? She has lots of great resources x
sadly it’s max BMI 30 on the NHS, Mine was 31 so we went privately where at most clinics it is 35 limit. Still not ideal. I believe there are some clinics abroad in Europe where they will treat higher BMIs though.
a good person to follow on IG would be @fatpositivefertility as she posts a lot about fertility for plus sized folk.
But I’m sorry you’re experiencing this- it’s such a fatphobic system 😞 BMI is so outdated and such a poor measurement of health.
where are you based? In the UK for nhs treatment you need to be below 30 but if you go private they will accept higher (ours is 35 but another nearby goes up to 40) so if you contact clinics or have a look on their websites you will see their self funded criteria 🤗 xx
My bmi is 31 and did ivf in Athens.
please don’t waste your time with the nhs bmi thing of being under 30. Iv fallen pregnant twice and have had good embryos from being of a bmi 36 and iv done ivf abroad. It is simply a tactic to reduce the number of people they want to treat.
