I rang my clinic on 20/11 to advise AF had arrived and was told I would be put forward for a review.
Ten days later after hearing nothing I chased it up… I was told I’m 18th in the queue for a review and it may be several weeks. I asked for further clarification on dates and received a call yesterday to be told that the earliest I would be contacted for a review appointment would be by the end of January, so 2.5 months after my failed cycle.
Baffling given how quick I was booked in for the IVF cycle in September after my fertility MOT at the end of July.
What are your clinics standard wait types for reviews?
I feel pretty angry that we had paid privately but now we are in another limbo again 😢.
Thanks!

hiya CJohns was it nhs or private? If I am honest, after my first 2 failed nhs rounds I had my follow up pretty soon (I don’t remember waiting!) and then waited 2 weeks following my third (that was private)
2.5 months seems a long time and I’d feel the same as you! However I’m not sure if I was just lucky. Wishing you lots of luck x
Private 😞. Honestly it actually felt too quick how quickly they booked us in for the first cycle after giving them the green light, so I’m just so angry and frustrated that the review takes this long😭.
More annoying that I know they’ll be taking on new patients while we wait!
Hi. I’m sorry things didn’t go well with your cycle…I know how devastating it is.
We had to wait 6 weeks for a Review with our private clinic after our first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy.
After our 2nd cycle (NHS) ended in BFN, it was over 4 months.
What I would say is make sure you are prepared to ask questions and advocate for yourself at the Review appointment…I found that my Consultant was more than happy to just go into the next cycle without more tests, whereas after a natural early loss, a chemical pregnancy and a failed implantation, I felt strongly that I wanted to explore some other tests before doing another cycle. Thankfully my Consultant was receptive and accepted my concerns.
Think about all of the questions you have and don’t be afraid to ask anything because you think it sounds silly.
Tbh we’d only planned to do one cycle as we already have a little boy, but I want the review to see what they about the failure in my cycle and whether it could persuade me to do another 😆 (partner not so keen as he doesn’t want to spend the money).
I’ll definitely start making a list of things to ask though. Thank you xx
our last one was about 6 weeks from confirming miscarriage to being offered a review appointment the following week. Self funding at an nhs hospital clinic that is very over stretched so I think your 2.5 months does seem quite long but perhaps Christmas is affecting your timescales a bit but still seems long! I wonder if you can keep pestering them for a cancellation I’ve done that before xx
Yeah if they’d have said 6 weeks to me it would be a bit easier to stomach. But it’s just the comparison on how quickly they booked me in for treatment as a new client vs this follow up that has shocked me the most 😔.
