hi guys! I’m super excited because we got our BFP after 6 rounds of IVF (we had two ectopic pregnancies where both fallopian tubes ruptured and were removed last year- 6 months apart).
we had a failed fresh cycle earlier this year and just done a frozen one with a 5AA blastocyst.
We tested Monday (10 dpt) and got a BFP. I have had a few symptoms but not much. Today, (13 dpt) I have started to feel a sharp pain on my lower right side when I breathe in. I am not sure what it is but as my tubes have been removed I don’t think it’s ectopic. I’m really worried because i really want this one to work :(. Any help or advice would be great. Has anyone else felt this pain and it be ok? Should I worry??

congratulations for the BFP, I have only 2 natural pregnancy history, both ended with ectopic, same tubeless, I’m in 2WW, same worries, I did lots of search online I think the worst scenario w be the embryo implanted at the corner( not within the idea place of implant) of the uterus/or the 2 joint between uterus and both tubes, which results in removing that small corner, but doesn’t affect next transfer as not in the main area for implant, but do not panic, this is more rare than tube ectopic, I’m going to ask my doctor again, good luck to you!
Ah Avocado111 - we are literally in the same boat! I have no tubes and my mind went straight to the same place- what if it has gone and implanted in a stump. The other symptoms I have as are really different to my ectopic rounds which feels positive but this one today worried me. It’s weirdly calmed down now so when I take in deep breaths, I can’t feel it at the moment.
I wish we could scan now and know where it is and if it’s ok.
Ah best of luck to you- I have everything crossed for you- it’s such an incredibly tough and traumatic journey!! Xxxx
Also the emergency doctor suggested me to do scan as soon as I found pregnant, but this time is IVF, I’m still not sure whether need to do it or not, if you’re worried please seek advice from clinic/GP, I think they will arrange early scan asap, as we have ectopic history, but because I’m still waiting for the OTD, so I’m just lazy and worrying now, no idea how to prepare next, and it’s my first cycle, every step is new to me, I will let you know once I get any reply from my doctor
Ah I hope it works for you and it’s all ok. I just spoke to my clinic, they’re going to book me in for a scan on Monday (I’ll be 5 weeks then) to check the sack is in the right place. They said they won’t know if it’s a viable pregnancy or if there is a baby/heartbeat until my next scan but this will at least ease our minds around it being ectopic…
there are so many random terrifying pains in early pregnancy it could be ligaments starting to stretch, the embryo getting comfy or even just trapped wind as you can get a LOT of that too, defo best to get your clinic to scan you to see where implantation has happened though given your history but there are many other reasons for the pain so wishing you the best of luck for your early scan 🤗 xx
Thank you so much Twiglet2 - I was up most the night with a dry mouth- constantly thirsty and now lower back ache. The pain on the side has gone completely now…
I have asked for a scan on Monday to make sure the sack is in the right place (but we won’t know if it’s a viable pregnancy because it’s too early).
That’s good you have a scan and defo too early for anything other than in the right place but that’s all you can hope for at that stage eh hope it all goes well for you! xx
your situation is just like mine. Had 2 natural ectopic both tube removed than got pregnant via IVF, throughout pregnancy I had this random pain sometimes Somuch that I had to curl and sleep, other times mild but yeah this pain continues till last trimester don’t get worried just drink lots of water and cramps sometimes settle down. For me day by day darker bfp and a good beta HCG result(2545 on day 15p5dpt) was a hint that pregnancy is going smooth and baby is digging in the right place.
Thank you so much for replying Chukulu - it’s so helpful to hear positive journeys. I am so sorry you’ve been on a similar journey to me- but so pleased you’re pregnant. have you had your baby now?
The pain was just above my hip on my right hand side but it’s gone this morning which I’m pleased about. I really hope it is nothing! You get so scared when you know what ectopics are and have been through the trauma….
yes after ectopic trauma our body and mind will be super conscious about any sensation happening around our uterus and tube area I even can tell when exactly I ovulate now 🙃… and yes I already delivered my little princess 8 month ago 😊
Yes even in this pregnancy I usually felt one sided pain throughout my first trimester than from second trimester weekly once or twice I use to feel this sharp pain it may be because of growing uterus and baby. I know it’s hard but Don’t worry relax and enjoy this pregnancy everything will go smooth and I m sure next week after scan you will get your peace of mind.
I think with early pregnancy, there is a lot of changes that can cause pain here or there. I had same pain sa you at the same place and my pregnancy is a natural one. Scan showed baby is alright, and the pain can be as a result of stretching. I already have 2 Ceaseran sections back to back. so who knows. But I'm fine now. So hopefully, it will settle with time. Drink lots of water and take lots if rest. All the best xx
Thank you so much Daughterofaking ! The pain ha gone away but I don’t have any other symptoms so I’m still worried. No sore boobs or cramping. I just am extremely thirsty and quite tired… it’s such a long and hard wait to a scan!
Lovely to hear that. During pregnancy I do not have breast pain and all that . In my present pregnancy, I was extremely thisty that was what stood out for me. So everyone experience pregnancies in different ways. Just be hopeful and I pray everything goes on well with you. Do not worry after the first trimester so many symptoms will disappear..I wish you all the best and looking forward to your baby birth announcement. xx
I had right sided abdominal pain too I was so worried it was an ectopic pregnancy I’m currently 13weeks pregnant and baby is doing just fine.. I still don’t have any other symptoms no sore boobs or nausea. I just have cramps here and there, I hope this helps.
Ah thank you Pompeiiiii and massive congratulations!!🩷 hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well!
the pain hasn’t comeback now and I’m 5 weeks 1 day today..I don’t have any other symptoms other than being tired and really thirsty in the night. The tiredness could be all the ivf meds I’m on….we are just praying it’s ok xxxx
I think by now if it had implanted incorrectly (in a stump etc) at 5 weeks+ you would be in a LOT more pain, with bleeding etc? I might be wrong, but if the pain has gone, I reckon that's really good news? Will be thinking of you today, really believing this has worked for you ❤️
Thank you so much MultiMagpie - we ended up in hospital but they’ve confirmed everything is ok at the moment!! I’m so glad as I was in ectopic territory. Really appreciate you messaging! X
hi all, I just wanted to say thank you for your support. I had a shoulder/arm ache yesterday/today and thought it was ectopic again….we went in for an emergency scan and they confirmed the sack is in the uterus and it is not ectopic.
Whilst we don’t know if it is a viable pregnancy yet because it’s too early, I’m so pleased it isn’t ectopic!!!
