10% chances

Hi All,

My AMH is 2.6 and I am 39 years old. I was told that my chances of getting pregnant are 10%. My husband has azoospermia so the chances are even smaller.

Is there anyone here who was told that the chances were 10% and had a successful pregnancy?

Thank you so much and I wish you all to have success.

Love

Cattac

Hi cattac,

I turned 39 in Oct, have low AMH (2.34) and was also given odds of just 10%

We went ahead with a two cycle ICSI package with Access Fertility which we had to self fund as I wasn’t willing to accept a future without being a parent.

Our first round only got 1 fertilised egg which failed to implant, then by some miracle we conceived natural the following month (after 3.5yrs TTC) but that ended in MC before 6 wks.

Our second round also gave us just 1 fertilised egg and so far so good - almost 8 weeks with a scan on Thursday!

It was definitely a financial gamble but one we were willing to take. Though it is a mentally emotionally difficult process which can certainly take its toll.

Best of luck to you with whatever you decide!

Lx

10% sounds low…but put it in perspective… your either in the lucky % or not, so in my eyes it’s still 50/50! All the best lovely ❤️

I was never given a percentage but had a similar AMH 2.8 when I was 38. 3 previous rounds of IVF failed by this point (2 miscarriages and 1 round no eggs collected). Changed clinics and it took 2 further egg collections but I'm 20 weeks with twins currently. I used donor sperm so didn't have male factor, but there is always a chance.

My cousin in law and his wife were given a less than 5% chance due to her age and AMH. They had 2 rounds and have 1 child from each.We were given 60% chance per transfer (me 29, high AMH, good quality blastocysts), we are 9 embryos down with no pregnancy.

Stats are stats and you don't know if it will work for you until you try. I've heard so many stories of people given low chances and finding success. Best of luck xxx

Just wanted to say that stats are just stats. There are so many success stories out there of low stats yet finding success. Keep going. Hope everything goes well. xx

I was told my odds were less than 5% after 4 unsuccessful IVF rounds, but I’m 13 weeks pregnant now! The stats don’t define anything!

Hello Cattac, my AMH level was 1.9 when I was 37. Did one cycle, failed on egg collection due to poor ovarian reserve. Consulted different clinics in UK and abroad, everyone said the chance is low, might go for multiple cycles but no guarantee of success. Opted for egg donor in September 2022, succeeded in my first cycle. I’m a happy mother of twins girls.

I was told 3% naturally and 10% with repeated rounds of IVF. It's been a long hard journey with lots of vitamins and extra tests along the way (unexplained infertility). We struggled to get eggs every round but ended up with one at transfer which weren't always blastocysts. After 5 rounds and 6 embryos with only 1/4 eggs fertilised, we are 26weeks pregnant (5 years of trying and 3 with IVF). Wishing you the very best of luck. It's a huge test of patience, resilience and a fight to access resources xx

Hey, I was told 5-10% chance with my own eggs at 38 after 4 failed rounds. We had unexplained infertility so in paper nothing wrong. We were just about to go donor egg route and something told me to get second opinion, so we transferred clinics, who didn’t believe in quoting stats and said I’ve got every chance, might just take me longer. Had two rounds with those and now about to be induced with my tenth embryo! You could argue that’s the 10% chance but I think it was the better protocol with that clinic and generally not giving up. Good luck to you xxxx

yes. My husband has azoospermia and had an unsuccessful SSR. We moved to donor sperm and were later told only 10% chance due to egg problem. It took 5 attempts with my own eggs (4 fresh and 1 frozen). Baby is 4 weeks old. I was advised by dr to consider how many attempts I could put myself through as it was possible but might take quite a few goes. I had decided This was my last attempt with my own eggs.

Hi there. I was given a less than 1% chance of conceiving either through IVF or naturally because I had a very low AMH and because of my age (I was 43). I found out I was pregnant the day before my 44th birthday and now have a healthy and active 9 month old. I wish you the best of luck. X

very late to the party here, but just stumbled across your post. My friend was given a 7% change and got pregnant on her second round. The first round was cancelled as there were no strong eggs to collect and a few months later she got a BFP. We just have to keep hopeful our time will come xx
