hello

I’m booked in for my in-person tests on Monday at Warwick after meeting professor Brosens. Would appreciate any experiences?

we’ve been discharged by NHS so this is our next step of research 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hi Diane I hope you’re well, this is an implantation clinic at Warwick university (research) funded by Tommy’s

Sorry, I thought as it’s a self funded tests as part of Tommy’s funded research at a university hospital it might be ok, just keen to know what to expect

Hi Darcy hope you’re well , yes it is 😂, but I meant they are largely funded by Tommy’s so it’s not a lucrative clinic, I don’t have personal experience but I did speak to someone here who did the tests, it’s on my back up plan in case it’s needed. I’ll message you this lady’s username so you can speak to her xx

Hi Darcy,

I’ve had these tests done twice now (first one my ovulation date was off so had to have a repeat test 😳).

You’ll be absolutely fine! Everybody at the implantation clinic are lovely. First you’ll have some blood tests done and go through the paperwork- think they test progesterone levels and do thyroid blood tests. The clinic where they do this is right opposite the antenatal ward so you’ll see lots of pregnant couples walking by you just to really rub salt into the wound! Well at least I did anyway!

After that the nurse who takes your bloods will accompany you to the main clinic where they take the biopsy, it’s a few mins away. You’ll have a scan and then the biopsy. Biopsy takes about 10 seconds or so. Apparently you can have gas and air, but I didn’t both times and it was fine but I guess it depends on your pain threshold. I took some painkillers about 30 mins before. I just felt some period like cramps during it and then quite sorry for myself on the train back to London afterwards as the period pains went on that day.

I’m not sure if Prof Brosens does the actual biopsies himself anymore. He did my first one, but not my most recent one a few wks ago. I know he does the consults and the follow ups though. The doctor who did my biopsy was great and I was told he tends to do most of them now, but you’ll be in safe hands either way. Usually takes 2-3 weeks for the results, but you’ll be booked in for a follow up where Prof will go through them.

I hope this helps and if you have any questions then feel free to send me a msg!

Good luck with everything! Xx

Thank you so much! Argh to antenatal clinics always being so close to the fertility clinics! But I’m forewarned so 👍🏻 and cheers, I appreciate this such a lot

Thank you so much, I was there yesterday & you’re right - SO lovely!

Didn’t have Prof Brosens either but waiting for date to speak with him in 4-6 weeks 😬 so grateful to have been told about Warwick and grateful I could fund going. Just wanted to say thanks again for your insights and account

So glad it all went well. It can be so daunting! Hope any discomfort is settling.

They got my results back within 3 wks and I have my follow up tomorrow 😳. Hopefully we both get some answers soon! Even if they find nothing, it’s forward progress as it will help remove doubt.

Good luck with everything 😊

X

I think it’s the only test I’ve wanted to fail, to get answers 🤣 hope all goes well tomorrow for you!

Just to offer a different perspective as I know most people say it’s fine and it’s not too painful (and hopefully yours will be the same) but I have to say mine was extremely painful!! I had declined gas and air as I’d seen others had said it was fine but I instantly regretted that once it had started (it was excruciating😫) he had trouble obtaining the biopsy which I wasn’t prepared for and by that point it was too late to ask! So my advice would be to just accept the gas and air 😂 and take paracetamol beforehand as advised. Also, I did get results which were abnormal so it was definitely worth doing despite the pain! Hope yours goes well🤞🏼 xx
