Hope you are fine in the most beautiful but difficult exciting exhausting journey ever
Four years ago I froze my eggs and since fresh ones didn’t work and I’m getting 44 I would like to thaw my frozen ones. However I’m not really happy with the clinic where they are stored. Do you have any experience with the transportation of frozen egg cells? How safe it is and so on. I’m in contact with one clinic which I heard all good about it. They told me they can thaw them and fertilize them. So they have a compatible vitrification medium. I heard the vitrification medium with which the eggs were frozen needs to be compatible with the one that is used to thaw them.
So any experience with thawing egg cells in a different clinic? What do I need to consider?
Thanks and good wishes to all ❤️

Hoping you get some replies to your post that prove helpful . Your clinic should be able to suggest tried and tested means of transporting frozen eggs to other clinics If mentioning clinics by name/or costing please use PM so as not to advertise the clinics in question
Hi Justme, not quite the same situation but I have just moved an embryo and my partners gametes from one UK clinic to another. There is obviously paperwork and consent forms to complete. As far as I know it's all gone well, but there is no way of really knowing until we come to thaw the embryo on a few weeks and even then it could just be it fails anyway, regardless of the transport.Your clinics can often suggest a choice of couriers.
Our transport was £480 including VAT, it was a fairly short journey. You usually also have to pay either admin or import/export fees at both clinics. So for us it was a £120 admin fee from the exporting clinic and then £150 for each bit (so £300 total) to import to the new clinic, and then annual storage on top of that.
We used a company called IVF Couriers and they seemed fairly professional, there is another company called Embryoport that I looked at and they also seem fairly good from having read around.
Your two clinics along with the couriers should be able to liaise to ensure compatibility but I have to say that issue didn't come up for us.
and sorry for not replying right away. My doctor recommended me not to move the eggs since they are so fragile and keep at the same clinic. I had 17 eggs frozen, 12 of them survived the thaw, 9 got fertilized but one made it to day 5. That was so unbelievably sad to hear. I don’t know what went wrong. I got that one transferred one week ago and have my test in a week. Please wish me good luck. I’m almost 44 and those eggs were from 4 years ago……
I wish all good luck in this community, it’s an incredible journey 💕
I had similar numbers with my second round of treatment, 15 eggs retrieved, 12 fertilised ended up with 2 good embryos, one of which was transferred and is now a happy 3 year old girl, so it can happen! Wishing you all the very best and hope you get a good outcome xx
