So I chased up the clinic on my donor match and they hadn’t put my details forward for matching until after we’d had our counselling session which was only 2 weeks ago (annoying as we’d already had counselling through another hospital previously) so I have to be more patient!
We were planning to go down the fresh eggs route as I understood that if we have any embies to freeze the success rate is better with fresh eggs than ones which were frozen. The nurse I spoke to today though said the success rate is the same doing FET using fresh eggs or frozen so now I’m more confused what the differences between the two options are. Does anyone know? Txs! Xx

I used the same clinic as you my match took about 6/7 weeks we were offered some before this this but we went with our 3rd one (I wasn’t keen on the woman in charge of matching) but once your matched you don’t have to deal with her again lol. Good luck xx

I didn’t know whether to ask for any particular characteristics in the donor so I’ve just gone for physical ones for now. Hoping we’ll get a match soon 🤞🏼

Unfortunately my first try didn't work, but my 2nd go (FET) did.
The profiles you receive about the donors are very detailed, they tell you about their lifestyle, values etc and these helped me chose more than characteristics to be honest. The worst part is the waiting once you get matched you will feel excited and ready to go.
Hello, I had the same issue. I did a bit of research and found that it was the same result too. Our clinic told us the same. Our consultant said that sometimes it can be a better option because we can have the egg implanted sooner when the lining is ready as we don’t have to wait for the eggs to be ready for collection because they have been collected and fertilisers previously. So the lining is in better condition.
In my case, Due to health issue we are going to freeze our embryos and now feels ok with that. But if I had the chance I would have gone fresh. Maybe it’s a question of perception? Science has evolved in the last few years and maybe we need to change our views on that matter. I think you should do what feels right for you. Good luck with your treatment x
Hi Cheshirekit, we had the egg collected from our egg donor and fertilised this morning. I am waiting for a phone call from the class clinic to see how many we got. I try not to think about it but feel excited and so grateful for the gift this lovely lady is doing to us x
We got told the same from our clinic, fresh and frozen have the same success! I was disappointed not to be able to do a fresh round as I was all geared up for it but my lining wasnt playing ball. Its actually not so much pressure doing frozen as you dont have an exact date for transfer as it all depends on you so I felt that was a big bonus as I was a bit more relaxed!xx
Thanks lovely. I guess what I might do is see where we get to with fresh donor matches and if we’re struggling to find one in a few more weeks I might re-think the frozen egg option. Was yours a frozen embryo transfer or was it using frozen eggs which were then defrosted and fertilised? Or both? Xx
Ohhhh hang on, I totally misunderstood! Let me start again, I thought you meant fresh or frozen embryos which the success rates are around the same. I had a fresh donor but my lining at egg collection for donor was too thin so we had to freezer our blastocysts to be defrosted the following cycle.
I personally havent heard great things about frozen eggs so given the choice I would wait for a fresh donor if I were you. Sorry to confuse you!!xx
Ahh ok that makes sense. Think I’m going to wait a little while longer. We’d already planned not to do anything this side of Christmas as it’s such a busy time as it is so hoping to get started in the New Year, fingers crossed xx
Hi Sweetie, As i've said previously my sister in law is currently having ED abroad. It is true that nowadays, FET's are just as reliable as a fresh egg transfer as long as the thawing out process is done properly (which in the UK with all their guidelines I'm sure they will be fine). Try not to stress too much, at least its happening and I am hopeful for you that you will get your donor match very very soon xxxxx
Oh I am quite surprised to hear that. I heard that frozen eggs have a better chance. Consult your doctor about this. Maybe the success rates vary for different clinics. I hope whichever option you choose is the right one for you. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
You've made the right decision by going through this procedure. The difference is nothing just both are good for your health don't worry. It increases the probability of you to get pregnant. just try to keep yourself calm during the process because freaking out is not the solution. It is going to be a successful thing for you. Try it and don't worry after all the doctor is recommended those to you so it's good. You should go for it.
