Advice please

I would appreciate your opinions:

We started trying for a baby when I was 39.5. Found out quickly we had make factor, very low morphology etc.

At 42 we had one nhs round (only one is offered in our area in NI). We got 10 eggs, 6 mature, 3 fertilised. At day 3: 2 were poor and 1 was ok, so they transferred the better 1. Failed.

At 42.5 we had a private round - 8 eggs, 4 fertilised, all did better than 1st round. At day 5 we transferred 1 2AB, it has failed.

At day 6 we froze one 3AB.

We took all the supplements we could - both took high dose uniquinol, 2 men’s supplements, I took Wild nutrition & folate.

What would you do next to give this our best chance?

What clinic or therapy could I try? We can afford to pay for more rounds.

Would dna frag tell us anything about how the sperm is affecting embryo development?

I’ve read about AGRC, are they worth a try?

I feel stupid for not trying harder at 39 😭

Hi, I'm on a similar road i.e. starting TTC very late in 30s. I don't know if you've read It Starts with the Egg, but it's very evidence-based and the author has just released the latest edition so it will have all the latest research in it. For example, it includes how to increase your chances of IVF working.

we did Accupuncture for 6 weeks before transfer and on the day of transfer. I’m not sure if it did anything, and tbh, sometimes I felt like it was just a time to lie there and be still (and it was a pricey way to spend 45 mins just laying down)… but it worked for us. Good luck in your next round/your FET!

I’m sorry. Please make sure he takes all supplements from it starts with the egg. It worked for my husband. He also added in lycopene, cut alcohol and dropped to one cup of tea or coffee a day. He made sure he was on Wellman’s as well and ate lots of fruit and veg daily especially with beta carotene in it and tomato based things. He increased vitamin c to 1000mg and vitamin D to 3000iu a day. It can take at least 6 months to see results improve. My husband’s morphology was better when I was 40 than 38. It can affect number of blastocysts you get. I went straight to crgh at 38. Nhs wasted my time initially. I dropped my one free cycle. It’s so hard.

hi Brightflowers. I’m fairly new on this ivf path but my husband and I have done a number of months of acupuncture and it’s definitely helped my cycles so I’m hoping it will put us in A better place for our next round. My husband was sceptical about it but first session ‘fixed’ back pain that has been there for years. He’s not had it since so he’s wholly invested in it.

I’m from NI too so please pm me if you need anything or want to vent, I’ve one one private round and about to start nhs one next month.

Best of luck to you. X
