Success with poorer grade day 5 blastocysts for women 40 years old

I only have one good IVF IMSI cycle at 40 years old. I recently had a missed miscarriage with a double transfer of two good day 5 blastocyst grades of 6B+B+ and 6B+B-. One stuck but miscarried at 8w.

I have 5 day 5 blastocysts left but the grades are not as good. I have one 6B+B-, 3x 6B-B- and one 6B-C. I’m preparing for another FET, but would like to hear success stories of poorer day 5 blastocyst grades from women aged 40.

Hey, those grades seem good to me! Mine are always slow developing, so to be hatching is great. They have lots of energy to grow. Having that many after 40 is also great. Good luck🤞x

I was 40 at the time and it was my best cycle. But I did have best two transferred and had a missed miscarriage a month ago at 8w.

I'm really sorry for those two losses. I think out of every batch there will be ones that work and ones that don't. Hopefully you have the ones which will give you beautiful babies left x

Hi Spicycurry. Sorry about the early loss, but why don’t you speak to your embryologist about the grading, as they all have different ideas. Good luck. Diane

Thanks. I just wanted to know if others had success with these grades at older ages just to make it feel more realistic.

I dont know what the + and - mean as o r never saw that but 6BB are great grades! I’m so sorry about your misccariage but it doesn’t mean that any of these little frozen ones will be the same they have every chance of being your miracle- my son was a 4BC after 5AAs and other other better grades didn’t work xx

Thank you. Well I think my clinic include pluses and minuses to grade different degrees of B grades. So a B+ is a very good B and almost an A. A B- is a poorer B and almost a C.

It’s really encouraging your son was a 4BC. Was it a PGS tested embryo? Do you mind me asking how old you were when you did the egg retrieval? I was 40 when I did the best IVF cycle for my second. As I got closer to 41, my egg quality declined. I only have one cycle so my chances are not great, but your story gives me some hope. Thank you so much.

sorry to hear about your loss. Those grades sound good to me though so don't worry too much.

Maybe see if they'd recommend one transfer this time round.

Were the embryos pgs tested? X

I was 40 at the time of egg collection so I would always do a double transfer. Also, I have been told so times the better the grade the higher the abnormality as I was too scared to PGS test. Historically, I did not get many blastocysts but I got more at 40 than 38 due to my husband on supplements for longer.
