Period took 7 months to return after coming off pill, and now too light?

Hi everyone, anyone had to wait months for their period to return after years of being on the contraceptive pill? After 17 years of being on the pill, mine finally returned after 7 months, but have been short (3 days long) and very light ever since. My partner and I are about to start IVF, due to male factor infertility, but I can’t help worry that my light periods will play into a thin lining and hinder a successful implantation. Any similar experience or insight from anyone? Thanks!

Mine are always three days long. That’s within normal. They build up your lining “artificially” during the ivf process anyway with the hormones used, so they won’t transfer a precious embryo if they think your lining is too thick. Xx

I wasn't on the pill but my periods suddenly became lighter about 6 months before we started TTC. They were max 2 days and really not much blood at all. All tests came back normal and like you I was worried that there was something underlying that hadn't been picked up that was the cause of our infertility which was otherwise unexplained. As said already the drugs you are given thicken up your lining and you'll be given time to get to optimal thickness. My 7 week old baby is now resisting sleep next to me!

My period got shorter all of a sudden too although I wasn't using any pill and still trying to get pregnant (last three years). How old are you? Obviously the age is a big factor. When I was 39 my period got shorter and lighter

I’m 36, was 33 when came off pill and started having short light periods. I’d been on the pill so long, that wasn’t really sure what a ‘normal’ period for me looks like.

I was 29 when my periods got shorter. Started TTC at 30, egg collection at 32 and pregnant at 33.

Hi. Not the same situation, but my periods used to be really heavy - and last for around 5/6 days. Since I hit 40 a few years ago, they only last 2 or 3 days now. I was also really worried before I started IVF, but once they had pumped me full of medication, they were really pleased with my lining. Good luck!
