Flying with liquid medication

I go on holiday in a couple of weeks and need to take all my needles and lubion as well as Tinzaparin. Although they are less than 100ml in each vial/syringe, collectively they’ll be more than 100ml. Do I just need to take my prescription or do I have to declare the meds or get in touch with the airports? I’m also taking Progynova tablets but I think these are fine. I’m flying with Jet2 but read it will be airport security that I would need to contact rather than the airline so I will do this but any advice in the mean time please? x

The airlines I traveled with requested a letter from the clinic to say I was travelling with injections and what for. I was bricking it about getting stopped and having to explain but no one even asked and you don’t have to declare them.

I went abroad twice with not one question and 3 different airlines.

Clinic wrote a 3 line letter that we printed off and took with us.

have a good holiday!

Hi,

I’ve travelled a lot with the meds. I have prescription and a letter I take with me. I’ve only ever been stopped once and it was easy I just showed them the prescription and explained what they were for and off I went. I keep them in a separate bag so they are easy to get out if needed.

Enjoy your trip 😊

I’ve travelled with the meds quite a few times - I had a letter with me from the clinic explaining what they were for, but was never asked for it :) it’s more common than you think, people with diabetes etc also travel with needles / syringes etc and other conditions as well…. So no need to be nervous.

I phoned airline (Tui) and asked for a note to be added to my ticket file but also took pictures of my prescription and had a letter from clinic. I packed meds in foiled lined lunch bag with a frozen gel pack from Amazon (gel not liquid to avoid breaking 100ml rule )

I’ve travelled lots with meds. I always carry my treatment plan and scripts. It’s very common and no one has ever asked me. They see it all the time. I can’t comment on other countries as I haven’t travelled beyond Ireland and Spain with meds
