Hi all

I'm feeling quite anxious at the moment with fertility related stuff and just wondered if anyone has any really good suggestions for something to watch - a good series / box sets? Something which is a really good distraction. Any suggestions welcomed as long as they don't have too much focus on children or loss for that matter. The things I've tried so far are just not holding my attention.

Thank you 😊

Maybe watch an oldie but a goody ? Try Line of Duty from the start Or Queen Charlotte - a Bridgeton Story if you like period dramas

Happy viewing

taskmaster!! There’s 15 or so series and it’s just mindless silliness! Generally just makes me smile! And you don’t need to focus too much.

I love taskmaster, and some of it is properly laugh out loud funny. Definitely recommend! It’s now on channel 4, so might find all the old series on all 4

I'm quite into the Black Mirror series on Netflix - some quite crazy / dystopian situations people find themself in, which i find to be a real distraction from the everyday! Also lots of mini episodes with different plots so you can jump to the next one if you lose interest x

I asked a few friends this to get through treatment too-The Lincoln lawyer on Netflix is really good and also Fubar is ridiculous if you want something daft. Unfortunately I do think that anxiety affects concentration /attention in a way which does make some escapism hard going -🤞you find something absorbing. At my worst I found doing something at the same time as watching/listening to stuff helped…like making bread whilst watching a film or podcast etc./listening to something whilst running. Xxx

For fun/quirky, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency or Only Murders in the Building. For scifi/fantasy/action, Foundation or The Witcher or Vikings. For comedy, Parks and Recreation or Norsemen. Also Tetris is a brilliant film. Xx

I love watching Below Deck - easy watching reality TV xxx

The Last Kingdom is great if you like historical drama - it doesn't take itself too seriously. The Last of Us is amazing and would definitely hold your attention, but there is a lot of sadness/loss in it because of the setting. Queer Eye is v cute and uplifting if you like reality tv. A curveball, but I also loved a Korean reality show called Physical 100 on Netflix. xx

Last Kingdom definitely gets my vote. One sensitive scene in early episodes but otherwise epic and takes you away. Keep your chin up xx

Succession. The Marvellous Mrs Maisel. Schitt’s Creek. Seinfeld and Frasier re-runs! x

I liked to watch something with a fair amount of plot to hold my attention...west wing is always a favourite for me! Gilmore girls?

schitts creek is genuinely the best thing I’ve watched in a long time.

Also weirdly addicted to Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares USA 🤷🏼‍♀️🫣

I'm so glad you have asked this, I have set up now TV and prime as due to start my IVF in the next coming days and want some easy distraction! Will be noting them all down.

Daisy Jones & the six is really good on Netflix, although it can be an emotional rollercoaster, but in a good way I thought. I was hooked. I’ve watched it twice back to back xx

Schitts Creek if you haven’t watched it. It’s such a wonderful show…stick with it if you’re not sure to start with. I’ve watched it through a couple of times now. Things like Below Deck and Selling Sunset are super easy but addictive ones I watch too xx

just to be prepared, there is a small story line around loss in this one 🧡

New Girl is great escapism

Ted Lasso is brilliant but a bit deeper

Another vote for taskmaster here too!

Also The Witcher - there are some loss related themes but it’s worth it for Henry Cavill :)

Hi Skittles11, I just loved “The marvelous Mrs Maisel” It's the late 1950s and Miriam "Midge" Maisel has everything she has ever wanted -- the perfect husband, two kids and an elegant apartment on New York's Upper West Side. Her seemingly idyllic life takes a surprising turn when she discovers a hidden talent she didn't previously know she had -- stand-up comedy. This revelation changes her life forever as she begins a journey that takes her from her comfortable life on the Upper West Side through the cafes and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she makes her way through the city's comedy industry on a path that could ultimately lead her to a spot on the "Tonight Show" couch. The series was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino ("Gilmore Girls"). It’s a very well achieved comedy that plays with the drama of a Women trying to be independent on a very particular profession. It’s very light and funny. Hope this helps! 🤍 all the luck for you

the Lincoln lawyer is good, firefly lane (but does have some sad bits) for absolutely mindless addictive reality TV selling sunsets is a good cheesy watch and so is below deck loads of seasons to pop on when you need a distraction xx

Why not try a comedy series like Friends or Still Game x I’m sorry you are feeling anxious about things but it’s good that you have reached out x you should go a nice long walk and get yourself some treats from the shop before you start your new series x

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. She is an independent woman private investigator and femme fatale in 1920s Melbourne Australia. Not at all family focused. Xx
