I just got my results on my 6th/last embryo and it was negative. I tried everything this time and nothing seems to be working…my husband and I are both heartbroken and trying to figure out our next steps. I was just wondering if anyone has had reoccurring implantation failure and ended up overcoming it and getting pregnant?? This would really help us when discussing our next steps. 🙏❤️

this transfer I did antibiotic’s before the transfer then I was on a steroid and baby asprin along with progesterone suppositories. I also did the scratch before hand. Congrats on your success ❤️
I can’t remember what the dosage was. I’m definitely going to get the embryos tested next time! I think we might use a surrogate though…I’d love to carry on my own but at this point I don’t think it’s possible 😔
If you don’t mind me asking, what dose of steroids did you take and from when? I took 10mg as I’m petite from transfer day on one of the cycles and it didn’t work. I also took 2mg from the beginning of another cycle and that didn’t work too.
hi Britt. So sorry to hear about your implantation failures. What have you already tried? Were your embryos pgta tested? Have you checked for silent endo? Immune issues?
my doctor advised us not to get our embryos tested(we’re pretty unhappy with that now). The first 5 transfers were all done on unmedicated cycles and our doctor just kept saying there was probably just a problem with those embryos…we pushed hard on the last one to make some changes so we did the scratch, antibiotics, gonal f, steroid, baby asprin and progesterone suppositories…I have had both my fallopian tubes removed(one was a scheduled surgery and the other was from an ectopic pregnancy). I had the procedure to check my uterus(I forget what it was called) and I’ve had several biopsies… if we do another round of IVF we will definitely get the embryos tested and would potentially go the surrogacy route unless we can figure out why my body has been rejecting the embryos 🤷♀️
If you’re not on it already, there is a Facebook group called immunology reproductive support, on there is a list of recommended RI’s. I know there isn’t many around but might be worth seeing one given your losses. I believe appointments can be virtual . Also this fb group has a lot of knowledge women on there x
Yes that's good idea I'm on the middle of the process testing my embryo. I have three . They told me the best in my case do the test only for my two another one wouldn't propably survive the biopsy. So I will test those two. I hope I did good choice. I had one good quality and another two slightly worse and it's taking good couple weeks already so until this point I live my life , enjoying summer, and staying happy . Keep going never give up. If something is not working it means is in process.
hello, sorry to hear about your failed transfers. Have you done the thrombophilia screen to rule out blood clotting issues? I’m assuming you’ve had a good check of your uterus (3D scan etc)? Xx
they went in with a camera to check my uterus and said it all looked good. They aren’t able to tell me why this isn’t working, which is so frustrating! 😔
Hello Britt! Sorry to hear about you recurrent implantation failure. I did 6th transfers, 3 x fresh, 2 x natural modified FET and 1 x medicated FET after a normal ERA result, with steroids, clexane, lubion and cyclogest, oestrogen tablets... The whole lot! And nothing... It was transfer number 7, with our last 2 embryos when one of them finally stuck and I'm now 24 weeks pregnant. The only thing they added to this last transfer was oestrogen patches but just because I was having issues with my lining. Sometimes it really is just the finding the right embryo... All the best! Xx
congratulations!! Your story really makes me want to keep trying!! We have a meeting with our fertility doctor next month so we’ll hopefully know what we want to do moving forward. Thanks for your reply 🙏❤️
I had 5 embryos transfered, all resulted in implantation failure. My doctor was always convinced that it was due to chromosomal abnormalities so never wanted to introduce steroids or do any invasive testing. I then did another 2 rounds of embryo collection and sent them for PGT-A testing. First tested embryo was a chemical, second one worked (so 7th embryo over all was successful). I have a beautiful baby girl who is almost 5 months old now. Best of luck xx
thank you for your reply and congratulations! Can I ask how old you were when you did the second round of IVF? I was 34 for the first and now I’ll be 37…I’m afraid the quality will only be getting worse 😔
It was my 5th round and was by far the most "productive" compared to the previous ones. Now I like to think of it as "last round best round". Egg extraction was just two weeks before I turned 40. I was panicking because of my age and was loosing hope, so I totally know the feeling. The embryos I made when I was younger (age 38 and early 39) didn't work and I will never know why.You are still young, it happens to much older people, believe it will happen to you. I know it's easy to say it now from this perspective, but this thought kept me going through the desperate moments.
I wish you best of luck, keeping my fingers crossed for you🍀🍀🍀
Hi lovely, so sorry your last transfer didn’t work out. I had 3 implantation fails and a miscarriage with our last lot of embryos. This time round I’ve had the embryos PGT-A tested and just got a positive test on Monday. Very early days and still obviously terrified but finally off to a good start.
If your doctor is blaming the embryos (as mine did) then fully recommend getting them tested. Then at least you know if they continue to fail that it might be something else and they can look more into it. Sending so much love and luck. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 xxxx
awww congratulations!! Thank you so much for your reply, it really helps me believe that I might be able to get pregnant at some point! We will definitely get them tested next time!
Have you been checked for adenoymosis? I had to downregulate with Buserelin for a few weeks before transferring, plus usual prednisolone/ immune protocol.
Hi Britt. I have recently had a successful transfer following 4 failed transfers. It is a bit of a long story but, in a nutshell, I have 3 boys from fresh IVF transfers 10 + years ago. I wanted to try again and I had one final fresh transfer which ended in a negative. Due to my age, it was decided to move on to donor eggs and I went on to have 4 further transfers. The first two were medicated "standard" protocol and both ended in absolute negatives. On the third I requested to have a natural / modified natural transfer. I used my own cycle and triggered ovulation once the lead follicle was around 18-19mm. I then started progesterone and transferred after 5 days of progesterone. That cycle was a success but, unfortunately, I had an early loss. I decided to have a uterine biopsy to check for endometritis and NK cells. I travelled to Germany (I live in Ireland) and had the tests done and it showed my NK cell level was high. On my final cycle, I again did a modified natural. This time we added in a low dose of gonal f on days 3, 5, 7 and 9 (perhaps day 11 also I would have to check). Again, I triggered ovulation once the lead follicle had reached 19mm and following the same protocol again only this time I added in prednisone and clexane for the NK cells and prolutex (I think it may be Lubion in other countries) which is injectable progesterone. That cycle was a success and I am now 15.5 weeks. I would add that I was 46 when I had the transfer and am now 47 🙈 so changing things up can definitely work. My body seemed to respond very well to the medicated cycles as well and my lining was always good and everything seemed to go like clockwork but still I kept getting negatives. What protocols have you tried? What changes have to made to the protocols? There is nearly always something you can do to change things up so hopefully there will be some good suggestions on here for you to explore. Best of luck to you and if you have any questions I would be more than happy to help if I can.
I did my trigger shot at around 9pm and then not the next morning but the following day, I started progesterone. On the 6th day of progesterone, I had transfer (so, after 5 full days of taking progesterone if that makes sense?). The cycle day that you start progesterone is determined by the growth of your follicles so more scans are involved and once your follicle gets big enough, you trigger with ovitrelle and ovulation occurs approximately 36 hours later. The transfer window is, I understand, wide with a natural cycle that it is with a medicated cycle although there is a little bit more planning and last minute arrangements, if you are transferring your embryo close to home this is much easier. I had to travel to Tblisi so it was a little trickier but it all worked out ;o)
congratulations!! The first 5 transfers were natural, I didn’t take anything because my hormone levels were all good. After every transfer my doctor kept saying it was probably just the embryo(I had asked about getting them tested and she said it was unnecessary…) we pushed back for the last embryo and I ended up doing a modified medicated cycle, I also did the scratch, took baby aspirin, a steroid and progesterone suppository. It’s so hard not knowing if any of those embryos were normal…
thank you. When I did the medicated transfers, everything looked absolutely perfect. Lining great and everything looked good for transfer as still no joy. I do think that the modified natural just suited my body better as both times I did the modified natural I got positives although one was an early loss. I hope your clinic gets the perfect protocol for you x
Hi lovely, no success story here (yet) but I am in a similar boat to you, transferred 6 good quality blastocysts so far and only managed a brief chemical with the last one. We have 2 PGTA normal ones left, one of which was transferred last week 🤞 I've had various tests including uterine NK cells which came back normal. My clinic say the best chance is to keep transferring embryos. It's so hard to keep hope alive though. I'm thinking of asking for a hysteroscopy and checking for endometritis via biopsy (EMMA/ALICE tests) if this next one doesn't be work either. It's so hard when you're constantly being told how "beautiful" the embryos are and how perfect your lining is but it never seems to work. You're not alone xxx
I'm not too far behind you and quite similar story. Four good looking blastocysts transferred in natural cycles (with a bit of progesterone support). Lining great, hormones great, but 1 chemical and three negatives.
We have one embryo left from this round but have been referred for hysteroscopy to rule out uterus issues. Also have been referred for thrombophilia screening but our clinic doesn't advocate for immunology testing.
Heartbroken, hopeless and bereft but reading these posts has helped restore a bit of hope that it could happen.
It's really good that your hormones are good. I'm trying to take comfort from these small positive signs.
