Squinter at 9dp5dt - any hope?!

I’ve been testing since 7dp5dt (which is when I got clear positives previously - although both ended in losses).

I’ve had verrrrrry faint lines the past couple of days (the kind of ‘turn it at all angles, shine it in the sun, hold a torch behind it’ kind of line). But today there’s a much clearer (although still VERY faint!) line.

At 9dp5dt I feel like I should just admit defeat. By this point previously I had test lines that were nearly as dark as the control…and it was a hatching blasto at transfer, so surely should have implanted straight away?!

I know this will probably either end up as CP, an indent line, or worst case another pregnancy of unknown location/query ectopic. I think I’m just struggling to accept it’s another fail for us. 😔

Has anyone had such a faint line at 9dp5dt before and gone on to have a viable pregnancy…? I know I’m clutching at straws here 🙈😅

Fertility history if anyone is interested (TW losses):

- 2007 natural conception, termination

- 2018 natural conception, live birth

- 2020 natural conception, lost our daughter to premature labour

- 2022 IVF fresh cycle (after 2 years TTC naturally) - BFP but query ectopic/PoUL - loss at 7 weeks

- 2022 IVF FET - BFP but baby growing slowly and weekly scans showed heartbeat stopped at 10 weeks

Hard to do but try to stop testing - best wait for your OTD and test then with your 1st pee of the day Thinking of you ,sending a big hug

Take care

Thank you. OTD is Friday, so not long to wait. I’m just worried it will be another faint line and I won’t know whether to report it as a positive or negative to the clinic? They don’t do bloods, so I feel like I’d end up back and forth from EPU like last time when my HCG was doing weird things for weeks! 😔 xx

Heartbreaking to read all that you have gone through! it shows that you are very strong and that you have lots of love to give.

For my experience, I have decided to stop doing tests....in one of the frozen embryo transfers 2 tests, that I did at home, came back positive....and then later when I did the blood test it was negative. So as you can imaging, I found this more difficult than the occasions were it was negative.

Try to stay relax (I know! I know! Easier said than done), I usually try to do handcrafs during the 2ww, as it helps me focus only in the activity and I do not think about anything else.

Hopefully the result comes back positive, you deserve it!!!!😘

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m sorry to hear that you went through that 😔 My clinic don’t do blood tests (or even give us pregnancy tests to take!). We just have to do our own tests at home and call them with a “positive” or “negative” result. I’m worried that I’ll still have a very faint line on Friday (OTD) and won’t know whether to tell them it’s positive or negative. Last time I had faint lines I ended up being referred to EPU (after eventually paying my clinic to do bloods because I was so desperate!) …and my HCG did crazy stuff. It stayed the same for ages - then suddenly shot up, started doubling for about 4-6 days, but then started only increasing slightly, and then started going down. I was over 7 weeks when it eventually started coming down again - was at the hospital every other day having bloods and scans. I’m just scared of having a repeat of that 😔 xx

What I've done before in your position is report the faint positive (because a faint line is a positive) and then retest in a week. Within one week of a faint test you should have more certainly X

Thinking of you.

Thank you for your reply. My clinic were very dismissive of my concerns last time, which I found difficult to deal with. But I guess we will just have to wait and see. Thank you! Xx

difficult to say.....there is nothing worse than a miscarriage ...... I have to confess that if I get pregnant again, I am sure that I am going to be paranoid about everything.....people who had uncomplicated pregnancies assumed that we can be dramatic.....but they don't go through fertility treatments a pregnancy and then a lost.

I think in your case what I will do is to do a digital test with the information about the weeks. this will give you a little bit more information.

For example if on friday you do it and it says pregnant 1-2 weeks, you can doing 2 weeks after that to check if it says pregnant 3 weeks. This way you could see if the levels are increasing.

Hopefully this can help you❤️

Thank you! I think if it’s still faint in a few days/a week or so, then I might contact my bereavement midwife/consultant. They were so good last time - I’m wondering whether they might do bloods for me to give me a bit more information about what’s going on. Really appreciate the advice and support - thank you xx

What was the outcome of this please, I hope it was good news

Unfortunately not - it was just a cruel indent 😔 I did a few more and they all had lines like this but HCG negative. I think FRER have been recalled - it’s so hard to get hold of them now. They are giving awful false positives at the moment.

That's bad news 😔 sorry to hear that we are currently 8dp5dt and have the faintest blue line ever on a clear blue early test, we cant get frer around here.

Feeling down and out as everyone seems to get there bfp super early, our clinic said nothings accurate till 14days but according to every story I've read, there's like no success of you haven't got a clear BFP on day 9 latest.

Ah I’m sorry 😔 I did some mad googling when I got my squinter and I DID find some success stories of later BFPs. But like you said - they were quite rare. I wouldn’t completely give up hope - it’s definitely possible. 🤞❤️ But I’d be cautious myself, as well. 😔 sending hugs and crossing my fingers for you!

Seems everyone who gets early ones uses FRER which we can't get here at the moment... We've used wondfo strips and a clear blue early detection (which got a really faint blue line)

Hopefully the tests just aren't strong enough like the frer ??

Yep - that could be it!! 😊🤞 I used the one step “answer” tests for my last one. They are just as sensitive as FRER and much cheaper. You can get them off Amazon, and in Savers I think.

I'm hoping so! Literally seems every single person that does early testing uses them lol I'll take a look at them thank you!
