Any experience with Haematomas?

Hi,

Just after some advice. At my 6 week scan it showed a uterus indentation. I had to scan again a week later and now the indentation has gone and instead there is a mass in the yolk sack, although they can't be sure it is in the yolk sack, separately they think I have a haematoma. The person doing the scan said the mass could be a bleed. I don't know what any of this means. I've just been told to stop taking Aspirin and start taking progesterone injections in addition to the pessaries. Oh and relative rest - what is that? Should I be taking time off work?

I heard the heart beat and the embryo is growing, but I'm really worried I'm going to lose it. Anyone experienced this?

Thank you for any advance. I hope this post isn't sensitive to anyone.

X

I’m so sorry I know how worrying it is when I had a subchorionic hematoma I took time off work for a few weeks and only got up to eat and pee (I never take time off work through all the years of IVF but this felt needed) it did work out okay but I haven’t any experience of the growth you mention as our bleed was at the placenta. Are they scanning you again next week? Thinking of you and hoping for the best for you xx

Hi,

Thanks for responding, it's good to know these things can just resolve themselves with rest.

Looking at the notes from my scan, it says there is a hyperchoic bulge extending into the gestational sac. It is suspected to be either an atypical subchorionic haematoma or a chorionic bump, plus another protrusion. Then there is a small subchorionic haematoma outside the gestational sac.

There is nothing good written on Google about this. It's all about the increased risk of miscarriage. 😪

sorry to hear this, I also got a subchorionic hematoma at 6weeks but had a lot of bleeding which lasted a few weeks. They told me to rest but no need to bed rest and I could still go to work, instinct told me otherwise and I confined myself to rest for one week which I really believe saved us. I had never taken one day off before with my IVF journey, even just took one afternoon on the couch after a miscarriage so just giving you context-listen to your body and do what you think you need to do.

Initially the subchorionic hematoma was causing the sac to be an unusual shape and it wasn’t forming properly, we also had a very faint heartbeat but from one scan to the next in one week it improved a lot with bleed subsiding and sac being back to normal shape and heartbeat strengthening. We continued in high risk mode until 12weeks with regular scans in EPU and increased progesterone. I started aspirin then at 12 weeks and continued to be on edge until 20week scan and here I am a blooming 30weeks gone… on the home run 🙏🏻✨

Hi,

Thanks for your response, it's reassuring to know these things can resolve themselves. I think I will take it easy this week. Like you, I've never taken time off work throughout the ivf journey, I've always used holiday for appointments. I've had to tell my work I'm pregnant, because we're about to go through a round of redundancies and my lawyer told me to tell them immediately.

Stressful times.

Good luck with the birth. I'm so pleased for you. Every success gives hope to the rest of us.

Hi, I am sorry you are going through this, it is really horrible! I had a bleed and very painful cramps at six weeks and sure enough, they discovered a subchorionic hematoma. I was told to immediately stop the aspirin - apparently, hematomas are quite common in ladies who take baby aspirin, especially in combination with IVF. They also told me to take it very easy and work from home, if possible. No walks or standing up for over 20 minutes. I felt much better in a few weeks time and at the 13 week scan the hematoma was gone. Good luck - listen to your body, take it easy and look after yourself!

Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply, it makes a lot of sense. I was on Aspirin and clexane and was told to stop Aspirin. Really glad yours resolved. I have a dog to walk, so it's going to be hard not to walk, but I'm definitely going to work from home next week.

Thanks again

I had a hematoma. Had a few heavy bleeds, even clots! Wasn’t mentioned at 12 week scan and just resolved on it’s own. Hopefully it’s the same for you. Think they’re more common in ivf pregnancies. Best of luck♥️
