hello, so sorry to hear this I’d personally want an explanation from the consultant or embryologist as to why none of them made it, whether it’s an egg or sperm issue. The next step would be to try to improve those parameters then try again. It takes around 3 months to improve egg or sperm quality. If you both haven’t been taking supplements then I’m more than happy to share what my consultant advised us, and you can check with yours whether those are right for you . We got good quality blasts but I didn’t sustain a pregnancy due to an autoimmune disease they found later in the process.
Thank you for reaching out. I had been but he had not been taking any supplements, I would love to hear any that you took. We have an appointment today morning, those are my main questions
Hi Failed. So sorry to hear this and hope you've got plenty of support just now. Perhaps you need to go through your protocol with your specialist to see whether anything can be fine-tuned to suit you better. Perhaps a session of counselling might allow you to talk over how you are feeling. There is a charity called the "British Infertility Counselling Association" bica.net There is a charge, but they deal solely with all fertility problems including relationships while going through treatment etc. We have a yoga class for free this week, details further up this page or on our website. fertilitynetworkuk.org I shall be thinking of you. Diane
I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you. It happened to me twice (out of 5 cycles). Fortunately we have a little girl from our 5th cycle and pregnant again with a frozen embryo from that same cycle.
Unfortunately IVF can be a bit trial an error so when you have a debrief with your consultant they hopefully can shed some light on what they might change or additional tests to suggest. I remember how devastating it was to get to day 5 and have nothing to transfer, but important to keep in mind every cycle is different and just because it happened once doesn’t mean it will happen again.
Wishing you luck on your next steps xx
Check and recheck the sperm before you do anything else. DNA frag especially. Sometimes the problem is the sperm, so you want to cross that off the list before going for another round. Wishing you all the best.
I spoke to my doctor today in detail. He was very patient and explained it all. He said you have to take every cycle independently. One can be very good and the next can’t and it can be the same person.
He said 6 fertilized eggs are a good number. Also the eggs have to be at a grade 3bb to be frozen and tested, mine were at a 3cc and had grown to blastocysts but were too late to do a fresh transfer.
The genetic testing that I wanted on the eggs, he said is not black and white and it’s 50/50.
He wants to next time do a fresh transfer on day 3 of two embryos and freeze the rest till day 7 to see how they grow. He also is changing one medicine to one with more LH in it. He is going to speak to his nurse to get the process started for the next cycle and it can be as soon as end February! Praying it’s successful
