Questions for consultant

Hello all,

We have a meeting with our consultant this week following a traumatic miscarriage over Xmas. It was out 4th round of ICSI and we really thought this was our time but it was not to be. Our 1st round back in Nov 21 was a BFN, 2nd in March 22 was chemical, 3rd in July was a BFN. We want to go again, I’m nearly 42, once we get a bit stronger. I have some questions prepped but just wondered if anyone could suggest things we should be asking about?

Thank you and good luck and strength to everyone xx

I’m so sorry this journey is so hard. Have you thought about pgta testing and Alice,Emma and era tests? Xxx

I'm so sorry for your loss, Lamagarden. I had a similar loss last Christmas. It's devastating. I'm glad you are questioning it though. As common as they are, miscarriages should not be so common and they need to be investigated. I agree with boo718, ask about an Alice/Emma/Era. I'm in Ireland and to have all 3, called an Endometrio, was €1500. Ask to be referred to your local miscarriage clinic. There may be rules, for example, in Ireland, you need 3 miscarriages before they will investigate which is ridiculous and I am very much against that. Just ask though, no harm in asking. Best of luck to you.x

I’m sorry for your loss too :-( I will ask about these, thank you! I think it’s a good idea to enquire about the miscarriage clinic and see what he says 👍

I’m so sorry for your loss last month 😢

It’s hard to know what to do next isnt it! In case it helps the things I’ve recently discussed with my consultant on the last few meetings (also had 2 early losses , we did have one success, but lots of BFNs since ) was test for ‘sticky blood’ , progesterone levels, embryo testing, whether I needed steroids, whether I was on the right protocol and stim dosage. Usually they do take the lead in the convo but it’s good to have some notes I find so I make sure they’ve covered everything we wanted to know about.

I think I asked so much last time that I don’t have an actual plan yet as my consultant has decided to take my notes to a team meeting next week and also the lead clinician to get more people to review if there is anything else they should try 🙈😂 but at least I know I’ve asked everything and made them stop and think a bit I guess xx
