Testosterone Gel

Hi Lovelies,

I have heard a few people try and it work testosterone gel during stims. Any testosterone gel stories, I’m in two mind of starting this for my freeze all cycle.

Hi I used testosterone gel during stims in our last round and am currently 31 weeks and have 6 in the freezer with previous rounds I only ever had 1 poor quality blastocyst by day 5. I can't say for certain if it was the testosterone gel that made the difference as both my DH and I started taking coq10 300mg 3 times a day about 5 months before starting cycle. All other stims meds were the same as cycle before. Good luck 👍 x

Ahhh CONGRATULATIONS 🥳 Really happy for you ! X And thank you for getting back to me. I have high NK cells so I will be on steroids too. Can you PM me a pic of the gel? I want to give that a go too. I have been religiously taking my vits since my last round with DHEA. I want to try testosterone gel during the day of stims xx

Have low AMH and my clinic recommended I take Testogel for 8 weeks before my IVF round. I’ve been applying a dose that’s half the size of pea every morning. My understanding is that it takes awhile to build up in your system and reach the right level. I started stims yesterday and have been told to stop the testosterone now. Prior to taking the gel, I was on DHEA alongside all the other supplements recommended in the book ‘It starts with the egg’. It’s my first round so have nothing to compare it with but got my fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

Hi Eswyn, I have low AMH and wished i was well prepared like you. Thanks for your feedback. I feel like every consultant I talk to, I have to make the suggestions to them on changes to the next cycle. Wishing you the best for your first round xx

Hi, can I ask about taking DHEA and using the gel together? Is it ok to absorb very high amounts of testosterone? I have taken DHEA for a few months but only 25mg as anything more caused horrible side effects which showed I had too much in my system. I am in my forties with low AMH and high FSH. Thank you.

I had my testosterone level tested before I started and it was fairly low. To get a good reading my clinic tested testosterone and SHBG to calculate my Free Androgen Index (FAI) level. They did this because testosterone in women is so low it can be hard to get an accurate reading. I’ve had my FAI tested monthly and it’s been steadily increasing. I stopped taking DHEA once I started the gel, so never took both together. The only side effect I’ve experienced is very faint hair growing on the site I applied the gel. If your testosterone level is already high, you may not benefit from the gel. Perhaps check with your clinic? x

I was on the gel last month before starting my injections this month. Made my period a week late, which was unnerving as I’m never late. Time will tell if it’s worked (low AMH and low follicle count). Just make sure you don’t get pregnant while you’re on it, as if you have a girl it could potentially cause birth defects.

Thanks for your reply, you apples the gel the previous month. Interesting… please let us know how you get on. Sometimes menstrual cycles change, so don’t worry too much with what’s outside our control. And I wish you all the best with this round - GOODLUCK xx
