Bad News: Zero Fertilisation

Feeling completely devastated! Had egg collection on Friday and only got 5 eggs. We got a call yesterday to say none had fertilised so there's nothing to transfer. This is our 5th ICSI (3rd at this clinic since 2020) and even low our fertilisation rates haven't been high, we've never had none.

I feel in shock and completely numb. This was the first time I had done nk cell treatment so we didn't even get a chance to see if it would help.

All the clinic said when they phoned was they didn't know if it was issues with the eggs or sperm, not helpful at all.

I’m sorry your going through this. 😢 we had a bad round where we got 5 eggs only 2 fertilised but by the next morning they were gone. When we spoke to the embryologist he said that he could tell the egg quality wasn’t good when he was doing the icsi. Something about the firmness (or lack of) of the egg when injecting the needle in. Hopefully they can give you a bit more information. Have you had any sperm tests? Xxx

I’m so sorry to hear that, I know how hard it must be for you and I really hope you’re ok. They must be able to tell you more so hopefully you can get some reasons which might help x

I'm so sorry to hear this! 💔 I also had this happen on one round, and it was so crushing and defeating. Hopefully you can get some information as to why this might have happened, and answers to what they are going to do about it. I changed clinics after it happened to me, and I'm a lot happier now. Sending hugs xx

I’m so sorry, I had the exact same on Friday too, the dreaded call, 8 eggs collected (which i was ecstatic about due to low AMH) to them having 0 fertilised (i done a post about it). It’s heartbreaking and I’m thinking of you during such a difficult time. We also paid for endo scratch which was pointless due to no transfer, and got the bill through this morning, thought it was very insensitive of our clinic! Take some time to yourself and indulge a little bit. Here if you want to private message me x

I feel for you, had 3 retrievals, last one icsi with oocyte activation (supposed to help fibrilization), no luck. Have you considered egg donation?

This is what I got back from the clinic, feeling really confused.

hi, this is completely devastating and soul destroying…we were in the same situation earlier this year too…have low AMH had 8 eggs which we were so happy about but none fertilised. Clinic said it was an egg issue for us! x
