BFN on OTD from day 5 FET. When to stop meds to get period

Hi all, we’re got a negative today on our OTD and on about 15 other tests this week. Our clinic have said to carry on the meds until wed and re test but my wife wants to get her period back asap to try again. Also these meds are super expensive!

How likely is it to get a positive on 13dp5dt? On previous pregnancies she always got a BFP on day 6 (We had a stillborn 38 weeks and a missed miscarriage with those two 😔) taking these meds is killing her and her mental health

Sorry to hear you have had a BFN and that you have had such a difficult time on your journey to this point. I was in a similar position myself last week following a fresh transfer and decided to stop the meds at 12DP5DT. I figured that was 17 days post ‘ovulation’ and if it hadn’t implanted by then, then it wasn’t going to. I had been bleeding since 4DP5DT which made the decision a little easier, but it was difficult as the clinic would have had me keep taking the meds until 15DP5DT. It’s very difficult mentally to continue with medications when you feel the outcome is pretty clear already.

I think it’s for you guys to decide whether you’re happy that the test is definitely negative and wouldn’t have any regrets if you stopped the meds now.

Thank you for commenting and I’m sorry to hear of your negative too 😔 it’s such a tough journey.

My wife managed to get a HCG test with the doctor today and that was negative so the clinic said we can stop taking the meds but we still keep reading stories where sometimes late implantation can happen and some clinics want you to test on day 16 or 18 not 11 & then again on day 13 as we have been told. It’s just so conflicting! We know it’s negative but there’s this little piece of you that thinks but ‘what if’ and if we stop the meds we could stop anything potentially happening.

We also found out today that we can’t do back to back FETs either and because of the Xmas break we can’t try again until January now!

Time for a new clinic!
